Sinus Infection-An effective treatment

I was a chronic sinus sufferer for 50 years, and was treated by many specialists, with limited long term improvement. Cortorised nose cavity treatment twice, gave temporary relief, but the sinus problem returned. I relied on the normal treatments, such as anti-histamines, sinutabs, Avil retards, nasal sprays and drops, plus analgesics, for temporary relief, on a perpetual basis. It was a never ending saga, with no prospect of improvement. My sinuses were particularly affected by high humidity, weather changes, kapok dust, plant pollens, cigarette smoking, and some foods such as nitrates and eggs. I had to leave the coast and live inland to get relief from high humidity. At age 65 I found a complete cure, with absolutely no sinusitis, and no hayfever. The answer to my problem was simply taking one evening primrose capsule each day. This treatment worked the first day. Evening Primrose oil works by desensitising the nervous system, including the nostrils and sinuses. No hayfever, no sinusitis, no drugs required. I took one evening primrose capsule each day for twelve months, in order to prevent a recurrence of the problem, and to desensitise the sinuses fully. Now I only take an evening primrose capsule if I am in a particularly challenging situation, such as in a smoking environment, or in a humid location on the coast. This was a miracle cure for me, after a lifetime of intense perpetual sinus problems, with regular debilitating headaches, even after taking sinus tablets and strong analgesics. Give this treatment a try if you suffer from hayfever or sinusitis. You may be as surprised as I was.

Thanks Raymond24308 and Miriam65408 for sharing on EP - I have been diagnosed with chronic sinusitis since late 2015. I have been on nasal sprays, antihistamines, garlic, oregano, turmeric etc etc  but the problem did not go away permanently. My problem started small with some hissing noise in my ears and I went to consult an ENT doc - a few weeks later on I found out that I could not smell. At first I suspected that the steroids spray was causing my smell sensory to become numb but the ENT doctor disagreed he said the sprays will help me .He said he found polyps present on the upper part of nasal cavity - the polyps was a clear obstruction of air passage to the sensory cells. So at the doctor’s advise I continued using steroid sprays, omeprazole, antihistamine and sometimes prednisolone. On visits that I took the prednisolone,  I could smell for a few days and then the ability to smell will diminish slowly. So I felt that the course of medicine I was taking wasn’t really helping the polyps to shrink. The nasal continue to get irritated - resulting in lots of mucus and sometimes the mucus gets stucked between the polyps which could lead to bacteria or fungal infection. Occasional I find the the phlegm I throw out is greenish which could be a sign of mild infection. I even tried homeopathic remedy white pill for 6 to 9 months but I think this did not work either. The polyps and sinusitis remain to a certain degree.

This year around Feb I started coughing. Initially I did not bother too much about the symptom but the coughing was getting from bad to worse - and I realised that the cough only kick start at certain time of the day. I went on research to find out more about problem - and I could safely say that the coughing could be due to either post nasal drip, acid reflex of the nasal areas or both.

The post nasal drip exist occasionally because of sinusitis  - so the treatment should focus on sinusitis - infection?, allergy?. My ENT doctor also said the cause if post nasal drip. The medicine I got was to treat the symptom but there was no attempt to find out the root cause. There could be an infection somewhere that is causing the sinus/ nasal area to get irritated and hence producing excess mucus OR the nasal tissues could be just over sensitive [Thanks Raymond for sharing on EP] and start producing mucus with the slightest amount of irritant. The antihistamine I took did help short term but the symptom keep coming back after that. I wanted to see if I was allergic or intolerant to certain class of food - this did not happen because I was taking antihistamine quite frequently.

Later I also learnt that there is a condition known as LP reflux and this is affecting me. I found out that acid from stomach can flow without the person realising (silent reflux) to the oesophagus and also all the way up to the nasopharyngeal areas. When this happens the tissues in contact  become inflamed and start to produce more mucus than normal. I also learnt that whitish mucus can be produced from the throat area and this will cause the urge to cough/ purge out the mucus. Often the throat felt itchy. I knew this is affecting me because I have this frequent reflux and bloating of the stomach which is not surprise that digestive acid can also flow upwards and irritate the throat. Another indicator is that the irritation is more evident when I start to lie down on the bed and start coughing. My voice become hoarse which is also another indicator that the acidic fluid affected the voice cords abit. So this tells me that I have GERD and have to manage my eating habits and sleeping habit. Some videos on Youtube really help me to understand the condition and how to reduce the chance of getting GERD. So when I get this symptom and felt itchy at the throat - I put some honey in my mouth and let it dissolve slowly. I believe the honey helped to “calm down” the throat. If this still does not work  - I will take a stronger cough syrup to relieve the itch/ cough.

Now I will be trying  Evening Primrose and will report back in 2 to 3 weeks on the results. I really hope this will help.
