sitting on floor after TKR

Hi
I am wondering if any of you out there can sit on the floor or try to? I had a PKR 3 years ago and am able to although getting up is a little chllenging as I don't want to put alot of pressure on the knee. I may be looking at a TKR and was wondering. It seems no one ever mentions that .
I have small grandchildren and one of the reasons I had the knee done was my inability to get up and down off the floor.
some day they will grow up and I guess this wont be an issue but it is now. Thank You !

i also had TKR February 2016 and I was told afterwards that I must never kneel on my new knee. The whole experience has had a devastasting effect on my general health and no if I manage to sit on the floor I cant get up again. I could before the operation x

hi Mary, thank you for your reply. I am so sorry that it has not gone well for you. That is not something that anyone likes to hear that is potentially looking to have to have a total knee replacement. What exactly are the issues that you say it has been devastating on your health. I had my parcel done In May 2016 so three years ago same as you. I have done very well for three years after this latest incident that I’ve been dealing with with the knee. Have been resting and icing and elevating for a solid two weeks and I think actually it might be turning a corner.
I hope that tomorrow is a good day for you!

Hi Debbie,
I had my TKR about 3 years ago also. I still have problems with it at times.
It still hurts mostly when it is cold out, or going up the stairs not down. I
hope this is not going to continue, for either of us.
Any suggestions from any one on what to do to make it easier to get of the floor or still have pain?
Thanks,

hi Terry, take a look at the reply from Linda on this thread. She described the way that she gets up and it definitely sounds like something anyone could possibly do. I too have issues with my knee from time to time. I just have been going through an issue and have been on an icing and elevating for the last couple of weeks. I have an appointment to see the surgeon again and trying not to self diagnose myself lol.
I have come to the conclusion and have to keep reminding myself that I should be thankful that I can walk and not have pain and do stairs although I will have to say that lately the stairs have been a little challenging for me sadly. I hope you find some answers here. Thank you for your reply I appreciate hearing from you .

Your problem may be the lack of strength in the surrounding musculature. Gotta rebuild your quads, glutes, core, hip flexors and more. Without that strength, it's difficult to rise from the floor, do stairs alternately, up and down, without holding onto anything, regain your balance and more. Gotta put in the work to rebuild those muscles; walking and a bicycle cannot do the whole job. The strength training is necessary. The following would seem to apply to you as well...
