Skipped beats/Palpitations after ablation

Posted , 47 users are following.

Hi everyone smile

I had my ablation on the 20th April and had 2 weeks off work. For those first two weeks I had no skipped beats or anything. I went back to work last Monday and since then I have got them constantly even when I am relaxing and not exerting myself.

I rang my doctor and am now taking my beta blocker in the morning but it isn't improving. Did anyone else have these symptoms? I know it's only been just over 3 weeks but to go through all that and now still having issues is really depressing sad

Thanks

HI all, I had my ablation done three months ago. Thing are good other then minor palpitations . I was taken off all heart Meds but had to go back to taking 50 mil of atenolol as my heart beat went from 65 a min to 95 when I stopped taking  the pill . I was hoping to be free of the bata blocker but I can live with it . I've had no a fib since my ablation and the specialist says everything is good . I do like to have a few beers but with that comes extra palpitations. But after a day the palpitations are gone and I don't have the feeling of my heart going into  Afib .. I exercise with no issue .. So the best thing to do is get to know what effects your beat .. Take care

Hey Scott after the Ablation did you palps during recovery for a few weeks?

Hi, I had some mild palpitations during the first few weeks of recovery . I still get the odd palpitations but nothing alarming . I'm a lot better them I was prior to the ablation

I had my ablation 15 days ago. I do have some short runs where it tries to start up...but it does not.

I also had pain on left side neck for 2 days. I have chest fullness and sometimes pain. Currently I have been getting a flutter then like a hard muscle pain top left side across from armpit above breast area...hopeful this is not anything new.

I also do not have the energy I had before the surgery...I get tired faster while out running chores like shopping.

I am hoping all of this will calm down as the days go by...I am feeling well and my recovery time has been great for the outside...the inside i guess will take some time.

Hello, brenda, same thing happened to me, I am on my third month post ablation.

I still have short runs, 1 to 10 seconds tops, but they are related to my stomach or movement like bending, pressuring my stomach, etc. because they were the reason I decided to get the ablation, and I had 2... still same short runs.

When those symptoms calmed for you and what about the short runs?

      Thanks a lot!

I had my ablation on August 28th, 2017. During the first week, no issues. During week 2, I was extremely weak. During week 3, my body felt better but I began having 1-3 second SVT episodes. Before the ablation, they would never stop on their own and I always had to be taken to the ER for adenosine, 3-8 times a month since I was 7 years old - and I just turned 28. Now, here it is February 2018, and I’m still having the small 1-3 episodes, as well as some longer 30-60 second episodes and for the last week, it’s been fluttering on an irregular basis several times during the day. Also now, I get sharp pains every once in a while, though this is mainly when I try to become very active like walking the dogs and jogging. My cardiologist did the ablation for free since I had been suffering for so long, but now I wonder if these won’t go away. rolleyes

     Hello everyone!

I had ablation almost 2 years ago (when I was 40) , first 2 months I stayed home, no exercising  , no working . After these 2  I went to work , slowly I started going to play sports(soccer and basketball) , all of this time I felt GREAT!

One time (3 months after) playing soccer I was feeling weird, some kind of skips , unregulated beats  .That night more skips, one after another one, next day I felt pain in my left side of the chest. The pain can stay for weeks and months. yes , is correct, it is like a squeeze, sometimes I  feel  some  scratches , sometimes I feel  some stabbing...

walking on the treadmill , 20 mins , them BOOM!!! A big skip! I felt it through my whole body , next day pain in my left side.

Went to the doctor, some test , but nothing, they are even trying to make me believe that everything is in my head.

One doctor told me to learn  live with  the pain, hm! I am willing to do that, but tell me the reason of the pain .

Curious if any of you has the pain after skips

    Thanks,

    Gabe

Sorry for this, before the ablation , when I had  SVT episode I was doing 200-220 bpm .

I was told this was really unusual , regular are not more than 160 bpm. Can you share your number here?

    Thanks again,

    Gabe

      Hi Gabe

When i was in Svt my bpm went to 230. If you had 2months off maybe im being hard on myself and should just relax. Thanks for your reply

      Hey Gabe.

I guess I’m unusual too because before my ablation, my SVT episodes were 250-400 bpm. Everyone always told me it was rather high for an episode.

It’s now been 6 months since my ablation, and the episodes have started coming back, just not as often, but I sympathize for your pain you feel bc I feel it as well, the stabbing/scratching pain through the left side of the chest. My dr actually wants to bring me back in for testing to see if I will need another ablation since they’re back already and the pain is torture to have on a daily basis.

Here’s to hoping we all get better!!

      Hi gabe

Before my ablation (in May 2000) from SVT my heart rate would reach 200-280 bpm lasting anywhere from 5 mins to 13 hours until I would pass out and when i woke up the heart rate was back to normal. I would get palpatations every month for years. After trying different diets, medication with no success I stopped seeing the cardiologist and just dealt with it for about 10 years before i decided to go back to the cardiologist to see if they could help me because I was tired of the stress physically and emotionally. Thats when the doctor told me they had a cure for SVT and suggested I have the ablation done, I guess thats why they did the ablation... the high heart rate and frequency was not normal and was probably putting a big strain on the heart muscles which cant be good for the heart. I have not been back to cardio for several years because they told me i was cured from the surgery/ After all of these years i have not had another episode of SVT but I do still get skipped/irregular heart beats and my resting heart rate is between 90-110 bpm. Im concidering going back to the cardiologist soon because symptoms are increasing with age/peri-menapause.

    Ok

Having another ablation done is not that unusual, I was told that there are chances the first one not to have 100% success rate.

With me , I would rather have the SVT episode than  the pain in left side. These days I am a little better, I feel like joking and enjoying my family, so I'll do that!

I wish you all good luck and don' t stress to much , lets be happy!

It’s been two years since my ablation, I go for three weeks with feeling great then for no apparent reason I get a heaviness in my chest and I start feeling skipped beats and palpitations. When I have gone to my cardiologist for EKG and Echo everything looks good. Dr says it’s because I can feel skipped beats that I start thinking about it, he suggests I get the app headspace and try not to worry. I am not a worrier, I never felt this before ablation...I am extremely frustrated and tired off hearing it’s all in my head 😞

I think I would get a second opinion and change doctors.  It’s ridiculous that your doctor would suggest that app to you. Go get a new doctor please!

      Sandra,

I am 8 months out from ablation and just now starting to experience the flutters/ skip beats also. They come and go so fast its impossible to Pi ck them up on an ekg.

Do you think this means ablation not succesful?
