Skipped beats/Palpitations after ablation

Posted , 47 users are following.

Hi everyone smile

I had my ablation on the 20th April and had 2 weeks off work. For those first two weeks I had no skipped beats or anything. I went back to work last Monday and since then I have got them constantly even when I am relaxing and not exerting myself.

I rang my doctor and am now taking my beta blocker in the morning but it isn't improving. Did anyone else have these symptoms? I know it's only been just over 3 weeks but to go through all that and now still having issues is really depressing sad

Thanks

    Hi Hannah

I hope to be better now

I am new to the forum

I had an ablation on 23/1

At the beginning I had some palpitations and fullness in the chest but nothing special

    That was the beginning

But since three days now I have skipping beats not so hard as before the ablation and I am afraid so so much that this nightmare came again

I am sad and depressed almost all the day and my mind is on the beats of my heart

I feel so bad about all of this

    I am crying also sometimes

Does anyone of you had these symptoms?

Is it normal after two months?

Hi there aikarerini83112, so sorry you are going through this. I know how you are feeling and it's so scary and unfortable. Hang in there it does get better. Stay hydrated and rest as much as you can while you heart heals. It will get better slowly until the skipped beats are not noticeable anymore. Keep your chin up it's all part of the process.

I had chest fullness and some shortness of breath. Give this until the end of April. Palpitations are also normal afterwards. Give it a full 3 months, please. It takes that long for the heart to heal.

I had an ablation for my Paroxysmal Afib in March 2017. I've been dealing with Afib for almost 3 years and it was pretty severe. I was in Afib 60% of the time. I was on flecainide, apixiban, and metropolol during the time before the surgery. After the surgery I immediately felt better but I could feel palpitations and occasional skips, as well as some chest pain. My cardiologist assured me that was normal and that everything is good now. He said the chest pain is probably due to some damage to intercostals. Almost a year after I still felt weak and lightheaded and I could feel the throbbing and skipped beats jolting my body. My doctor also said it was just anxiety as I got hypersensitive to my heart rate. I hoped that they would discovered something else was wrong so they could offer me a solution. After realizing that things aren't going to get better on their own and that I won't get any more help from the doctors, I forced myself to go to the gym and do cardio religiously. I also stared yoga and started working on my anxiety. I have to say that I finally start to see improvement and it is a HUGE motivator. I feel strong, I feel my mind coming back to focus and even though I still occasionally feel the skips I push right through them and don't let them stop me. I try not to think about the palpitations and skips and I notice them far less now. Never give up on yourself!

hi ! I’ve had a heart ablation 2 weeks ago. The first two weeks were pretty good.  Unfortunately, I started having skipped beats which I didn’t have before.  I had tacchycardia but not as much as skipped beats.

Does it go away after a while?

    Hi all.

I had my catheter ablation 4 days ago and the cardiologist said it's a success and that he has cured me. Therfore to stop the beta blockers and the palpitations won't occur again.

I understand it's only been a few days but I'm back on the bisporol and have episodes of palpitations.

Does this mean I'm not cured ??

Please can someone shed some light.

Having palpitations after an ablation is normal. You had a procedure done on your heart , so the heart needs to heal from that. It take 3 months for the heart to heal and palpitations are a result of the heart healing. They will eventually all go away. I had the same thing happen, plus I was a little short of breath for 2 months, I was very tired and my chest felt full. Please just give it some time for your heart to heal.

      Ok thank you that's assuring.

I am disappointed though in having to take bisporol beta blocker again and just hope and pray I can stop them in a few months time and also that this is the end of the nasty SVT episodes.

Pleased that you have recovered well 👍

All folks with hearts healing are you including beet juice from slice beet steeped in water overnight or the Superbeets crystals drink. Nitric oxide from beets is being touted as great for the heart. I drink a half cup a day; blend remainder for soup.

    Hello All.

Been two weeks since my ablation and I'm still getting skipped beats which is really uncomfortable.

Been put back on bisoporol but not helping with the skipped beats 😥

    Hi my fellow sufferers smile

I had my ablation 4 days ago, because of the constant VES. Ma doctor said it all went perfectly and i really don't have them anymore. However, few times during the day, I felt some heart "jumps", a feeling similar to one I use to have just before it started to skip, but now I just feel like it's going to skip, and then change it's mind wink Is this just the healing process? I want to belive what my doctor said, that I'm cured. And he was pretty confident about it.

I'm dealing with the same thing. My ablation was done on April 26 and I still get sensation as if it's going to go into SVT, But thankful it never does. It is depressing and scary that maybe it's not fixed but doctor reassured me he took care of it and that these "sensations" or flutters or whatever are normal and can last a year after procedure. I too just returned to work and it seems they happen more there but I think it's a bit of anxiety perhaps. I mean it's not even been 8weeks either that or I'm allergic to work! Praying it stops scaring me and trusting nothing comes of it. Reading all these posts makes me feel better. Thank you for sharing your story. 🙏??

I am 15 days out now from ablation and I didn't sleep well night before last and yesterday had tons of skips and flutters. I went to work out and was nervous as I am sure all of us ablation people are that being tired and exercise will trigger svt but didn't happen, lots more skips when I got home. I too was told by the nurse to expect lots of weird sensations for three months.

Well, if you were told by the nurse to expect lots of weird sensations for three months, that is very comforting! Because "weird sensations" are exactly what I'm feeling! I understand that after such procedure probably all of us listen to the heart beats all the time, maybe even imagining things. I had my ablation done on June 8, and you?

I had my ablation in January and it does get better. The doctors do not tell you anything about the things you will feel.

I still get the occasional feeling of an act starting up but it doesn't.

      You will be fine.

But always do your own research if you want to know the facts because they just don't get it...guess they do not understand just how we all feel.
