Skipped beats/Palpitations after ablation

Hi everyone
I had my ablation on the 20th April and had 2 weeks off work. For those first two weeks I had no skipped beats or anything. I went back to work last Monday and since then I have got them constantly even when I am relaxing and not exerting myself.
I rang my doctor and am now taking my beta blocker in the morning but it isn't improving. Did anyone else have these symptoms? I know it's only been just over 3 weeks but to go through all that and now still having issues is really depressing
Thanks

I had a cardiac catheter ablation 20 years ago and I no longer have SVT but I still have flutters, irregular heart beats/ skipped beats and as Im getting older and entering peri-menapause, the irregular heart beats and skipped beats are becoming more frequent/daily and most common at the end of the day while at rest. I was also recently told by my GP, that i have short PR on my echocardiograms...should I be concerned with the increase of symptoms? the last time I was at the cardiologist he told me it was not necessary that I come for check up because the cardiac ablation cured my condition but Heart disease runs in my family (mom had a stent at 48 and my grandfather had his 2nd heart attach by the time he was 45 yrs old and had bi pass surgery at a young age.) I am 49 yrs old now and my symptoms of skipped beats have been increasing over the last few months but because the cardiologist told me im cured and skipped beats is normal after this type of surgery I have not gone back to him. Has anyone else experienced this when entering peri menapause? Please advise!

I have the same thing! It feels like you're heart is going into svt but it stops after like 20 seconds. The only issue I have is, after I have these weird little episodes, my heart palpitates like crazy for a good 2 hours afterwards. My doctor says its just because its sensitive but I had my ablation 5 months ago? Does anyone else have this? Its so uncomfortable and the only way I get the palpitations to stop is to lay down for hours. Idk what to do at this point. I'm so tired

Hello, Micaela, same thing happened to me, I am on my third month post ablation.
I still have short runs, 1 to 10 seconds tops, but they are related to my stomach or movement like bending, pressuring my stomach, etc. because they were the reason I decided to get the ablation, and I had 2... still same short runs.
When those symptoms calmed for you and what about the short runs?
Thanks a lot!

Hi Hannah, Hi all. Having similar issues. Had SVT since childhood, but only showing real symptoms once every 4 months sometimes less and never took meds for it, worse attack was for an hour and a half heart going around 200 so fully appreciate there's people on here with far far worse symptoms so I feel for you all. Had an ablation on Thursday and the day after, Friday, started getting severe ectopics basically non stop, with periods where every beat felt ectopic but not fast and not SVT. So I've now had this for 3 days basically, I went to hospital and they recorded Ectopics successfully and told me to go home as it's nothing and quit common after ablation. To anyone on here being told its in their head, ask to be fitted with a Reveal Link device, so you can record your episodes and show its real, it's how my SVT was caught in the first place and should catch other irregularities.

Hello my friends, I had ablation done 2 and a half years ago, I was told that "it is in my head" or "I am to sensitive" or " I'm too aware " too many times, to worst part is that even my wife told me I have issues.....what's an "Reveal Link device" ? a monitor? I had that many times after ablation, most of the time I have terrible pain in my left side of my chest , I requested monitor thinking they will catch something ... nothing, the doctor told me to " live with my pain!" . Good luck everyone!

It is a device no bigger than your little finger that goes under your skin on your chest for a maximum of 2 years that is always recording your heart. So small you barely notice it and the operation to have it inserted is no where near as uncomfortable as an ablation. It caught my SVT and led to my ablation and will catch ectopics as well. I think it is an American company although I had this done for free on the British NHS. [b]https://www.medtronic.com/uk-en/patients/treatments-therapies/fainting-heart-monitor/reveal-linq-icm[b].html

Hello,
I had my ablation on June 1st and it has been a roller coaster of mixed feelings and uncertainty. My condition was a little different then most on this feed as my ablation was for AFIB and not SVT. Four days after my ablation I had a relapse and was back at Emerg to be shocked... again. My surgeon advised me that this could happen as part of the healing process. The one main difference in my relapse was that my HR never went above 170bpm, compared to my pre ablation episodes where I was between 220 and 280bpm. I was advised by my surgeon to stay on the bisoprolol for the 3 months post ablation. I am most frustrated by the effects of the bisoprolol and pleaded to come off earlier. I weaned off them 3 days before I was scheduled to wear a holter monitor as I wanted a true reading of what my heart was doing. Two days after I wore the monitor I started feeling the skipped beats and odd palpitations. I am only on Apixaban (blood thinner) now and have been advised that I am not in any serious danger because of the effects of this drug. It has been about 11 weeks since my ablation and I have just started feeling these skipped beats and palpitations for the past two weeks (since I stopped the bisoprolol). I am worried that I may have stopped the beta-blocker too soon, but according to others on this feed, it doesn't seemed to have helped those that went back to the bisoprolol. Any extra info on similar effects would really help. I am most concerned that my skipped beats and palpitations have started so close to the 3 month mark, which I had been anticipating as my All Clear date. Thoughts???
Thanks
Matthew

hey yall,
had my ablation just about 3 months ago. Everything here has been super helpful. i am 34 and had my first AFIB episode a few days after the 4th of july. doc said ive probably had it my entire life and it just now reared its head. i still get a skip here and there and i have days where i feel sluggish and tired after starting the day ready to roll. i know the random pains/palpitations/skips are normal during this process, but i cant help but to freak out that something bad is happening to me every time inexperience an episode based off how terrible my first episode was. what do you all do for the anxiety? any advice in that department would help me
a lot.

Interesting... I too had an ablation 3 months ago. I was fine 3 weeks after but then started to get palpitations in between the beats. Not sure what it is but doctor says it is not SVT. I am no longer getting irregular beats but i am now getting strange palpitations in between beats. I get dizzy sometimes too. It has been going on now for a month straight....I will be going to the ER if this keeps up to get FULLY Examined. VERY Frustrating...

I just past 3 months and still have skipped beats all day and once a week a 2 second flutter. My Dr. tells me typically by 3 months the symptoms fade away. He said in some cases it takes 6 to 9 months. Frustration is setting in, worried that it didn't work. Has anyone had it take longer than 3 months before all the symptoms went away? Thanks

HI, I had my ablation done over a yr ago and still get palpitations . i had one episode of afib last july and had to get shocked back into rhythm .. i was dehydrated from summer heat so the DR figured thats what triggered the afib .. .. i can go for weeks without flutters then for no reason the flutters start and can last a day or two.. i take 50 MG of atenolol a day.. i was taken off my meds after the procedure but after a few weeks i noticed that my heart was beating hard so my Dr. said to stay on the meds for now.. i work out hard at the gym and have had no other afib problems.. just the odd day of flutters. i talked to a Dr at the gym and he had to have the ablation procedure done twice . he says that hes had no problems at all since the second procedure.. hopefully it wont come to that..

Hi Everyone
It has now been 2 years since i had my ablation and have not had an episode since (touch wood) i am familiar with occasional skipped beat/flutters. Recently i have been having them a lot more and have noticed they happen whilst i am at work - i work in an office and have thought it could be to do with my posture? is that possible?
i am no worrying SVT is trying to come back but are these just something we have to live with after an ablation? sometimes i go a few weeks without noticing anything and other weeks i can notice them lots of times for several days. Really frustrating and upsetting.
