Slight smell down there !???

Posted , 7 users are following.

10 days out from anterior repair , all seems to be going well , I am resting aswell as doing little things , however today I have noticed a smell down there , it's not pleasant ! Not sure if I'm obsessing and its normal or maybe an infection? Haven't seen any writhed come away yet and shower daily , any one else notice this?

Hello sarah. It's normal to have an odour following surgery but just how bad does it smell and can you smell it when you have your underwear on?
    • Posted

No I can't smell it when underwear is in , just when I go to toilet really ... Think am being paranoid but will keep an eye on it . Thanks matron x

You're not being paranoid sarah because it's perfectly normal to be concerned. If it gets particularly offensive you need to see your GP. It is better just to wash the area with warm water but there are some good feminine washes you can use. As long as it says they are gynaecologically tested they are safe. I always use one called Lactyacid, you buy it in pharmacies.

Matron had at good day up to 2pm now feel like both lots of stitches are touching and can feel it, feels a bit tingerling, I was up walking then sitting maybe sat for to long, feet up with codeine now

You'll have days like this and you've probably read in previous posts that often the pain and discomfort gets worse before it gets better because the sutures tighten as the repair heals. You are right to take pain relief because as I also mention many times, pain prevents a smooth recovery. I know codeine can make you constipated it is a good analgesic and one I tend to recommend xx

Matron, you have helped me so much over the last 16 days, I constantly think it is all going wrong then read other posts or you respond and the posativity  comes back, thanks for been there apriciated.

i really didn't think that this operation was so bad but I think for me it is worse than the  hystorectomy 😞

That's how I feel today Gillian , like both sets ( or how ever many sets ) of stitches are touching and there is no gap? Very bulgy aswell which is obviously the swelling

I agree it is worse and more painful than a hysterectomy, I've had both so I know what you mean. When you know what's involved in the actual surgery then you understand why a repair is more painful. Please don't think things are going to go wrong because they very rarely do x

Too good to be true matron.its a horrible feeling that's takes over the whole body. I pray that I feel better in a couple of weeks.xx

Does it get worse before it gets better? I'm feeling quite good at the minute apart from slight sting and smell down there , was hoping it was going to be plain sailing x

      Hi welshgirl,

How far on are you now? Know exactly what you mean by 'like a bubble feeling', it is a strange feeling, it eventually goes away.

It was my sisters 70th Birthday party, we were all out for afternoon tea, they went on to casino, I opted out of casino, a bit sore after sitting pretty upright on hard padded seat for few hours. Feel that way - you know when you've just given birth and glad babies out and feel a bit raw down below - not actually painful just rough.

Everything is so exhausting and such an effort, suppose it takes time to get full fitness back, just 1 alcoholic drink and I feel like I've had 6.

9 and a half weeks post op. So only 2 weeks on Sunday till back at work! Can lift litre and a half if support with other hand, don't see me being able to take 3 litres by 12 weeks.

Will just have to wait and see.

      Phyl x☺

Its 18dsys for me love.feel gross down there.. Horrible feeling when I walk, like I'm dropping again, scratchy and burnt sensation. I sat

out garden todsy and had to Lay down afterwards as I was buzzing down there. I'm not doing anything,so can't be that. God I pray tgast I feel a bit better in a week or so.x

      You will Welsh girl.

I know when I sat out in sun I felt pretty sore afterward. It's quite hard to sit comfortably for too long in early weeks.

Only ever feel relieve when horizontal, but it will pass , slowly but surely will be able to sit for longer.

I think that as the weeks go on and you overdo it, recovery is also quicker once you rest up.

I hear the weather is going to pick up, we are to get it in the 20same.

Alternate sitting in garden with being horizontal on sofa.

If I were you I'd be planning a picnic down by the seaside.

Look after yourself, your almost half way to 6 week mark. When you look back you will notice a big difference.

      Phyl x☺☺

First few weeks had a slight cough, used pelvic floor muscle squeeze and coughed ever so gently.

But only a little leaky for 1st few weeks, this time. Can sneeze , cough, laugh without any leaking now. It's great , sometimes sore when I laugh heartily.

      Phyl x 😅

    • Posted

Of course it's safe to sneeze! If it wasn't don't you think hundreds of women would have failed surgeries.
    • Posted

Yes I suppose lol, just nervous and want to do I things right.xxx
    • Posted

Hi chic, I sneeze every morning sit on your bum and hold your bits and you feel ok xx

I've been sneezing lots . I just quench everything down there and then sneeze lol ,,, you are bound to be worried Welshgirl , I know I am . I can't afford for this one not to work and I still feel I have been doing a little bit too much . Time will tell x

Hello matron, I tried to pm you but was unable to..I hope I hgavrnt annoyed you by sending pm😢😘.I know I have been worried lately.

I really need my hair coloured and I'm not sure if its safe to wash hair over the bath? I don't want to shower off the hair colour incase

the water goes near my bits..I've never let my hair go so long lol.thanks matron😘

      Hi,

      How are you this morning?

My hair really badly needing done, had it last done around 4/5 week post op but short enough to do over sink.

At almost 10 weeks post op nssde done again but going to leave it as swimming every other day and clohrine takes colour out anyway, getting really strawy too will try and leave till next week just before going back to work.

Will leave a trim or new cut till nearer end of June for going on holiday.

Is there no way you can rinse your hair colour out first before getting into bath.

      Phyl x☺

    • Posted

I suppose rinsing the colour off your hair is the same as rinsing it in the shower after washing it. If you're careful you should get any hair dye getting into the vagina x
    • Posted

The reason I asked is because I wasn't sure if I could bend over the sink.xx
    • Posted

Thankyou matron..pray for me this full insecure feeling goes away😢

It will.........eventually. It's normal to feel anxious xx

Feel very down and crying that everything about this surgery is a lottery..the feeling of a bubble or bulgy sensation plays tricks with your mind. Makes you feel itsd gone wrong😕. My worry is when I go back to work our busiest time of the year and I'm feeling fragile. Wish I had a sit down job
    • Posted

So bending is ok? I was bedding over the bath to wash daughters hair the other day and wondered if I was doing right ?
    • Posted

I thought bending wasn't OK in the early weeks hun that's why I asked.I just don't know what's the best really.I'm so paranoid about asll this.my.x
    • Posted

Bending is ok but crouching or kneeling isn't for the first 4 -6 weeks. When you bend you aren't affecting the repair and you aren't going to be bending for very long.
    • Posted

You don't have to return to work until you feel absolutely ready and your job should be taken into consideration when this is discussed with your GP xx

Think I'd feel better if I had another 2werks off.. If I feel like I do know I'd be afraid to pick up a pencil never mind pack web orders and take to post office.xx

Matron remember to put what room you have packed the box from.

hi sorry to bother you your head must be spinning, I spoke to you the other day but I have never really bothered about the front repair but as the lady's say I have been feeling the heaviness and all sorts of difrent sensations underneath I can feel the stiches if I touch which is not nice but dicided today to take codeine now for a few days I am emotionally drained, anyway mone over her is the Question

would you know when I can go back on my HRT as I think this s adding to the problem.

    • Posted

I was on HRT when I had my repair and I started taking it straight after the operation. My Urogynaecologist just told me to stop taking it for about 5 days before the surgery and start it straight after xx

Why do I feel like I got a tampon

stuck!! Don't feel I want to walk anywhere? What's that all about matron.xx
