slow reduction

Hi all

Have been reducing again (fourth time) and am now on 3 (for a week). Things have been fine with the usual dip, and minimal aching etc but two days ago my feet (soles and heels) began to hurt after a long dog walk. Yesterday after an hour and a quarter dog walk, I could hardly bear to put them on the floor.  This morning it is better but still sore.

When I was on 10 my heels used to hurt and I am wondering if this is a side effect at all? Has anyone else experienced similar pains?

Hope everyone is as well as can be with this thing!

I found that after foot/heel pain I used orthopedic inserts in my shoes and it seemed to solve the problem almost immediately.  I am not sure if this is the same type of pain as yours but I've not had any pain since.  Mine was not caused by PMR apparently just a coincidence I was told by the podiatrist.  Worth a try they were about $40 a pair for my shoes

    Hi all

thanks for all your posts. Nothing really seems relevant. Socks ok, boots not tight etc. eased off the walking and it is slowly going but has left me wary of walking the mutt.  With Christmas shopping I am doing more walking anyway. Perhaps it is just too much at the moment?  Will keep you posted.

good luck everyone and in case I forget - Merry Christmas!

I found for a long time the only shoes I could walk more than a short time in were proper mountain walking shoes - really not what you'd call elegant or attractive but my feet liked them! Which is what is important!

      Hi Eileen

i do use walking boots with inserts,  as you say not elegant!

i am sad to say my feet are worse. I have purchased silicon insoles which have helped but thus far I have drawn a blank. My left foot did clear totally but now the heel pain has come back. My husband thinks my nerves are jangled because of the reduction and we have decided I will continue but warily. This is the lowest I have ever achieved (3mg) so I feel I will have to give it a little longer.

This website is worse than ever now!

      cheers all

Just me again to update on the foot problem.  Well as with other random aches and pains the feet are now completely back to normal.  I also had shooting pains up the back of my leg from the heels for about a day but this too had disappeared.

Throughout the reduction I have had many of these 'random' pains lasting a few days or just over a week.   Never a rhyme or reason to them so just have to put them all down to the withdrawal.

I have been diagnosed with PMR for three years. I too have the sore feet, mainly in the heels and arches. At night I get occasional shooting pains on the soles of my feet and heels. My only relief is when I wear fitflop shoes. I have been reducing my prednisone over the last year which I have now eliminated for 4 weeks. Whilst reducing I felt that my body was making me go back on the prednisone. I got weird pains everywhere. Most of them I could to ignore and they went away, but the foot pain is staying. I try to relieve my pain with deep breathing and meditation, and Qi gung/ Tai Chi. So far I manage. Not easy but for me much better than the mind altering of the prednisone. I hope that you can find some relief, just keep looking to find something that works for you.
