Smelly gas like sulphur and rotten eggs

Hi all. So embarrassed but don't know what else to do. I actually am getting seriously depressed as It Is so bad.

I have been getting really bloated and pass the most foul smelling gas ever, it stinks and lingers in the room. I'm having to air my bungalow every evening.

I eat relatively healthy, excercise regularly and am slim.

This has been going on solidly for 2 whole months. I have tried eating different things but i just keep getting this awful smell! Sometimes I feel like I'm going to shit myself!! I can't have people over and am scared to go out when I know I'll be in a small space. I gave up my job!!

I have had to do a stool sample, all clear. The doctors just say I have IBS. They gave me colofac (mebeverine) which did nothing! I don't know what the hell to do!!

PLEASE HELP

I am following this for my husband. It's so bad, I am ready to gave separate rooms!

He eats a lot of bread so we are going to try that first. Do eating eggs cause this? He also uses a lot if non-dairy creamer.

    Thank you.

Monash University in Australia has developed a FODMAP diet to deal with IBS.  Fodmaps are a series of short chain carbohydrates that are poorly absorbed by the small intestine.  They cause fermentation in the gut.  You can download an app from Monash University with tells you what to avoid.  It must be understood, though, that the effects are cumulative so if you eat too much of something that is low in FODMAPs you might still get a reaction,  The diet is very restrictive but can be life changing,  You seem to be at the point where you would be sufficiently motiivated by the current limitations on your life to truly consider applying yourself to this option,  I was afraid to leave the house and darted to toilet to toilet with unpredictable reactions when I was introduced to this concept.  Within weeks my life was back under control and the dietary restriction is of little consequence to me to regain my confidence and lifestyle.  There are many websites with excellent recipes but the Monash University is still researching and regularly update you with the latest findings,  I can’t recommend it enough,  I wish you every success.

If its constant and stinks i think for me its just overactive bowel with IBS, usually after ive eaten too or a combo of too many things. Buscapan help me as help intestinal cramps also this is gonna sound weird but holding it in for maybe like an hour or so and weirdly it seems to stop and go away. I think the cramps eventually give up. When the gas comes out later its usually more predictable like on the toilet and it's not smelly.

Hi there just wondered if you did try a gluten free diet because I too had smelly ones so bad my hubby had to sleep in the spare bathroom. As soon as I went gluten free it stopped and as soon as I have gluten I get them again so if you haven’t yet went gluten free take it from me I’m happy now and hubby hasn’t slept in the spare bedroom since!

Hi all. Looks like this happened a long time ago, but is a problem for many. When I was living in Central America this happened to me too (even sulfur burps) which we’re super disgusting. What I found out is that I had a intestinal parasite. I would recommend going to your doctor and requesting a stool sample. Once they know what type you have they can treat with the proper med. make sure to take care of it because many times they don’t go away on their own and can flare up later.

    hope this helps someone.

I have the same problems with smelly gas. It comes and goes depending on the foods I eat . I also have IBS Chronic. It was diariha and constipation. Then my OBGYN found 2 cysts one on each ovary. He went in to remove my ovaries and found that I had endometriosis scar tissue that was wrapped around my intestines . They did a histerectomy and removed the scar tissue. I can go to the bathroom normal now YAH ! but, I still have this foul sulfur smelling gas.

I am going to see my gastrologist 2/8 , I will let you know what she says .

I am also going to try the charcoal tablets if I am able.

    Hi,

I have been suffering from IBS for many years. Non stopping passing tools earlier and recently changed to flatulence. Similar condition like you explained. I stopped all medicines. Just took a pinch ful raw cumin seeds for chewing everyday. It did the miracle. I am completely relieved now. All you have to do is chew one teaspoon raw cumin seeds, slowly swallow it's juice, allow it for soaking in mouth, chew and swallow once it becomes soft. I did once per day morning after food. You can do it twice if it's severe. Continue forever as it is very good for health. I also took tulsi leaves. Good luck.

Hi, I had the same issue. I looked up the symptoms. I started taking prebiotics and it's helped a lot. My Dr said it may be a gluten allergy. Try to cut it out of your diet and see if that helps. And also try the prebiotics

Hello!i think I know what you have! Sibo overgrowth. Get tested for celiacs disease immediately! Even if you don’t react after eating gluten, you may very well be suffering from celiacs!

For most of us, just buy a small $1-2 calendar type notebook.

    Keep a food journal.

Within 8-12 hours of eating, you will start seeing the problems or not and to what degree.

Raisin toast for breakfast, instead of ordinary toast-- is now a problem because dried fruit is processe with sulfur. Sulfur is explosive within the gut.

Because everyone is different and what is a problem for one might not be for another?

Also quantities are important-- a tablespoon of yogurt may not be much of a problem but one third cup is?

Eggs can-- or not be a problem, etc....

Guys, I figured it out. At least for me. Two things, no three: 1st and most importantly I wasn't drinking enough water. I've upped my intake to around a gallon a day. It's made a huge difference. The second thing is that I wasn't being active enough. I've started a pretty active job and my digestion has improved immensly. And one final thing I did was give myself an enema with probiotic powder in it. This allowed the beneficial bacteria to go right where it's needed without getting destroyed by stomach acids. My gas became oderless after this. Good luck to you all.
