How dare the doctor say you have a eating disorder.

And why has he put you on Amytriptyline? Do you actually have trouble sleeping at night?

I have had Fibromyalgia for 4 years and my doctor actually stopped my Amytriptyline on the day she diagnosed me as having Fibromyalgia.

I don't sleep well at night myself. My doctor has put me on:-

    Pregabalin 150 mg ~ 3 times a day

Morphine Sulphate 60mg ~ twice daily

    Duloxetine 2x 30mg tablets daily*

    Fluoxetine - 1 x 20mg daily*

    * these are antidepressants

I also take Oramorph Oral Solution to help with pain.

On top of my Fibromyalgia, I suffer from Spondylolthesis, Spinal

    Stenosis and Lordosis.

I am waiting for an appointment for Spinal Surgery.

If I were you I would go back to the doctors, and ask to see a different

Doctor within the practice, and explain in detail your symptoms. And Ask

Why the other doctor put you on Amytriptyline and saying that you have an eating disorder.

Have you actually looked up the symptoms of Fibromyalgia on the

    Internet?

There is a site actually dedicated to Fibromyalgia.

www.fibromyalgia.co.uk as well as other sites dedicated to this debilitating disease. It's an on going condition with no apparent cure.

I hope this helps you with your plight for further help......

      Hi,

My GP is keen to prescribe Duloxetine for me, but says it would be instead of the Fluoxetine I am already taking (40mg daily) but you say you are taking both. What are other people taking? And is Duloxetine helpful for pain? x

Amitriptilyne one a night...never been increased in 16 years...also vitamin d3 and magnesium double the recommended dose, works very well for me..not saying I don't hurt..or have fair ups..but I get a great nights sleep and can handle anything better the next day.  Also OsteoParacetamol..over the counter take ..2 x 3 times a day..won't build up in your system it's a stronger one than the ordinary paracetamol..it's slow releasing too...the main thing I do us less stress is the key Aldo when needed..lots of hot water bottles..this has taken quite a few years of trial and error..hope you get sorted soon..be blessed.,:-) xx Australia

      Hi sexkitten

Firstly maybe it was the way it was written but the doctor in no way was nasty when he said I have an eating disorder I only heard what I already knew and tried to hide from many people for years.

And yes I have problems sleeping due to the fibro the doctor gave amitriptyline in the hope this would help with the pain and help me sleep.

This too some people may sound harsh and I hope I don't offend anyone but I would rather be bedridden with pain than take medication that is putting on weight on me this I know may sound strange but the thought of weight gain adds lots of stress so fibro gets worse it's a no win situation.

Anyway on a good note last night I took 25mg and managed fine today have doctor tomorrow and because it's out in the open I feel I can be honest and explain my fears over weight gain due to meds it's not helped with the pain anyway so nothing lost
