I can't assist as I'm about 7 weeks now, still aches but not enough to prevent most things. My friend who is 6 months says he's nearly 'normal' but  most believe that it takes a year to  be in a position to 'forget' the joints been replaced.  I struggle with degree of bend and can get about 110 degrees  but surgeon says it will never bend as much as the 'good' knee- something to live with. The ' secret' seems to be to use it as much as possible and not  protect it, you cannot damage the knee so the more its worked the easier it will become

I had my knee replacement 4 weeks ago and Ihave extreme stiffness and some pain. These things make me tired all the time. So I sleep!

Hi Linda, the stiffness and tiredness is perfectly normal. I'm 9 weeks out and both of those have gotten much better & will for you too🤗 Don't get discouraged, keep stretching & doing your PT & you will see the light at the end of the tunnel!! 😊

I'm 6 1/2 weeks post op and tired like everyone but also I'm having problems eating. Nothing sounds good. When I do eat something not totally bland I either get nauseous or end up with diarrhea. Has anyone else had this side effect? I only take pain pills at bedtime now, usually one capsule instead of two. I'm really tired of bland food. Thanks

      Hi FlaNora

I have had the extreme fatigue (5 weeks P/O today) and a lot of nausea and lack of appetite.  The good side is that I have lost 3kgs and the other good side, is that my appetite is coming back - thank goodness.  My rehab Dr advised having a dry cracker with meds (just like morning sickness!) and it seems to have helped.  Good luck.

      Hi FlaNora,

I am 7 weeks post op. Had nausea from the day I got home. Better now but appetite still not great. Still have a lot of pain especially at night. I think the majority of people are experiencing the same symptoms so I'm glad for this site. I guess we just all have to be patient and hope things get better. Good luck and hang in there!

Pam, I am almost 7 weeks after total knee surgery and I am fatigued all the time. I see that most of us complain of that and that should be a consolation. I am listless, do what needs to be done, laundry, shopping but have no appetite, I force myself to eat and even drinek Ensure but I am just plain blah and tired. I guess patience is the remedy....

its not easy!, I was ablew to have a shower so never tried a bath.   I would think that getting out would be the hard bit.

You should have enough movement after  3  or 4 weeks. I am now 3 months and pain free, playing golf etc, stairs still cautious though and not able to run yet.  Why not have  decent wash for now and look forward to hopping into a bath later

I have been taking a shower every day since I got home at 2 days post op.   It is the high poiont of my day just letting the water run over me.  I had home PT for 4 weeks and driving now so I am beginning PT outside the home tomorrow.  I over did on Saturday and am paying for it yesterday and today.

I am 14 wks after and i remember that stage and thats not uncommon. Your probably still on the pain meds and that will also create that too but if not you still will be tired for quite a while. I just started back to work and i am absolutely beat. Its like i took a tranquilizer. Supposedly this is such a hard surgery it takes a while to get your energy back. My doctor said when i hit the 6 month mark i should be good as new. Just get plenty of rest when you need it and DO your exercises just like they tell you. If you dont you will regret it.

I am 4 weeks out on left and 14 weeks out on right TKR

Bends on both 125, straight 0 on left, 3 on right, so that is well off all drugs but baby asprin.

Do well on bike etc but very difficult to stand or even walk for short periods. Most of day still using walker.

Not too tired and sleep is getting better. Think it is just building back muscles slowly? They had to readjust my right leg knee to ankle 6

Inches inward. ,only pain is down the right side if that leg to ankle.Leg was very crooked and they told me those muscles had ot been used in 20

Plus years because of crooked leg.Just worried about improving walking. Pt still 2xs weekly

Also try not to compare yourself to others.  the reality is Knee replacement recovery takes many many twist and turns.  everyone is different.  I'm 16 weeks out and still get horrible stiffness.  My walking is getting better (hooray) and my going up and down stair is good.  I still can't get 0 extension but my bending is great 125+ degrees.  I'm back at work which can also be a bit stressful as I'm trying to move normally.

sleep is hit or miss, it's getting better but I definitely still have to take some OTC meds.  If I over do it, I'm popping an Oxycotin.

Hi - I just so your read your write up concerning being tired after TKR. I had my TKR on October 4th, 2016. After felt very tired especially after I took a shower. My doctor told me to eat 3 ounces of beef every day for 30 days. If I did not want to eat the meat to take iron pills. I eat the meat. I don't feel tire anymore, however, I am still expericing pain in my knee and need to exercise it every day and is still not bending to 120. Very upseting. Hope you feel better. J.
