I feel relieved to know I'm not the only one with no stamina.  I'm eight weeks out from two total knee replacements.  I know the healing and rehab will take time, but this lack of pep is horrible.  I have to force myself to get moving when all I want to do is snooze.  Hopefully it will get better with spring and sunshine.

I had a total hip replacement three weeks ago and while the op was successful, and that's progressing well, I am too so tired I can't do anything.  Not at all hungry either all I do is lie in bed. Had a bunch of tests yesterday. I'm a bit anemic but better than last week.

In the last 12 months I have had 2 TKR plus a hip. Evertime very tired and not hungry. My Doctor had me drink an Ensure every day and that does help. It just takes time to build back up. Best wishes

    Hi Pam

I am 7 weeks post op and started back to work 4 days ago. I only lasted 4 hrs for each of 3 days. I was so tired the first day back that I was nauseous. I don't sleep well at night due to the pain so I think that is partially to blame. I think that seems to be part of this difficult recovery according to what I have been reading. So Hang in there and hopefully in a few more weeks we will all be feeling better! Happy Spring!🌺

Thank you - I will take heed that I'm not alone in this energyless world at the moment.  Last hip surgery was a dream - no tiredness - but I had to have a general this time. Guess that's part of the difference.

I am 7 weeks past surgery.  I was doing so well.  I am now in PT ourside of the house.  There is no pain during the night or during the day until I do exercises or have PT the pain for the rest of the day is a 6-7.  We have had 4 large snow storms since my surgery and each has really brought on the pain.  I am glad that I had the surgery wish I had two years ago, but I am still fighting with meds as Tylenol just is not working and I don't want anything mroe than that.  I am still on the couch a lot, all the day time.. Spring where are you.........

Hi - I am three weeks past THR and it's all I can do to get up and walk around the house once and goback to bed.  I am totally exhausted 24 hrs. a day - no appetite. I do do my exercises during the day  a few at a time.  Hope this gets better soon. Had a bunch of lab tests - still waiting for results.

Hello!  I had my left knee done last year in December, 2016 and my doctor said to use pain medication so you can "move around."  I was not afraid to use the pain medication as directed in the beginning but then as I moved better and recooperated, all of a sudden, the pain meds were affecting me more and making me sleepy, I had no problem in cutting them off and weaning myself quickly from the medication. Hence, I did not have a lot of pain. I was surprised that after sugery that I had the most trouble sitting down in a car or at a desk.  This was a real bummer for me.  However, now I can do this fine.  I am looking to get my other knee done soon and I hope it goes as well.  I waited too long to get my knees done and I regret it.

I had my left knee done in December last year (2016) and I did not feel super tired but maybe I did not notice because I was on pain medication.  My appetite did decrease.

I am nearly 6 weeks postop as well. I am typing this while feeling my eyelids droop. I'm wondering how long this phase will last.

Hi I am six weeks nearly and exactly the same.  Have been able to do bending straightening etc. since day 2 and didn't need physio so was really surprised at how tired Ive been and how much I am sleeping.  I have however read lots of articles in the last couple of days to say this is completely normal

I am 5 months out from the first day I wrote on this forum.  I am still in therapy.  Have been able to bend and straighten from day 4.  I am still totally numb to touch.  I stand and feel like I have a vice around the knee from 2" above to 3" below.  Was told by doctor that it could take up to a year to not have that feeling. I am not as tired as I was for three months, I am pushing myself NOT to lay down as I was all day, although I will just take cat naps. It does get better.  Knee surgery is the hardest to recoup. Hang in there.

I had knee replacement May 23, 2017. I am still very tired some days and all days I need 1 or 2 naps. I' m taking few narcotics and mainly Celebrex. It's discouraging to last so long. I'm hoping at 3 months there will be remarkable improvement.

One thing that helps with pain at night is Lidocaine patches that are now over the counter. It helps deaden the pain.

I've lost my appetite too.  I weighed 120 before surgery and now weigh 106. That's scary too. I'm trying to eat more than usual.

TKR's are a rough surgery to recover from.

June 2016 TKR has left my knee still with that in a vice feeling and some numbness. I've heard it may always feel this way and also that the feeling could be gone in another year. Had a TKR this June on the other knee which already feels better than the first.
