Socks

Hi all and a very HAPPY NEW YEAR. I am now 10 wpo and am still not able to put my socks on not only because of my LTHR but I do have good old OA in my back as well so this tricky process is likely to continue being a problem. Can anyone recommend one of the sock putter onner gadgets that are on the market in the UK. There are about a dozen different ones and I'm not sure which one to go for.

I use motionperformance sock aid. Also available on amazon. Takes a bit of getting used to but with practice it ain't bad!

I think they are all quite similar apart from price. Enjoy the independence ๐Ÿ˜Š

Mine is Lifestyle Essentials from SueRyder Aids

I feel that if you have stretch tops to your socks it

is easier. By the way there is a very funny U Tube video

made by an American hippy, showing how he tried to

use his sock-aid, and adapted it. Laugh with him, not at

him, because I couldn't work out if it was a spoof or serious.

    Whatever, I found it hilarious!

    Happy and healthy 2016

Hi Colin, I was given a sock putter onner by the NHS on prescription, along with a grabber and raised toilet etc. Are you in the U.K. ? If you are ask at your hospital for details.

      Graham,ย

I was told I could not get a grabber, sock aid or long shoe horn from NHS in my area .... did get 2 raised toilet ย seats and one chair raiser.

Made my own raiser for my recliner chair, and used our office chair for the dining room so I could eat with the family in a civilised fashion, rather than on a tray in a different room.

I use the Sock and stocking aid available on Amazon, but I have beem told they are advertised for less on ebay.

This is an extremely simple tool and easy to store, not like some of the bulkier ones.

I use the one advertised on Amazon at various prices - looks a little like a three fingered hand with blue on one side and cream on the other. ย It works very well indeed. ย Later the occupational therapists gave me a plastic one together with grasper etc, it is nowhere near as good as my original one.

      Hi Graham

The prices seem to vary wildly for the same product. The cheapest I've seen are on eBay but according to graham96987 you can get them on the nhs.
