Someone please help, feels like my doctor doesn't take me seriously.

Hi

I wanna see here too so I get multiple views on my problem since it feels like my doctors (well 2 so far) doesn't take me seriously. Like they make my issue smaller than it is.

For the last 3-4 months I get sick, or feeling of sickness, easily. I get this feeling that I am inflamed (inflammation) after I have been outside for a prolonged amount of time (more about 30 minutes+). It makes me feel tired and fatigue. Sometimes like I have a low fever once I am back home and can relax again. I feel like it only occurs when I have been away and not as strong when I'm home. Just sometimes when I'm home but not as severe or strong.

I have also had fever on high grade 3 times within 4 months  Twice was in 1 month.

I would also describe a reduced cognitive ability (perception). I am not as sharp and it's much harder for me to predict things or realize what is going on. Night time or when it's dark it feels like I have a slightly less conciousness wheere i don't feel as present to realitty as I'm used to.

TO make it easier to understand: if my girlfriend walks toward me I usually realized it was to go to the fridge whcih is behind me. But lately I feel completely lost why, like I have no clue will few seconds afterwards. It takes me longer time to realize and I cannot try to realize such simple things anymore. I also can't read as well.

One of the times my doctor took some blood tests and most of the values they checked was in the middle of the reference, so good. However, few things was not perfect.

WCC - was low but on the lowest end of the reference

Monocytes - higher than reference

Eosinophils: Lower than reference

Basophils: 0%

AST / GOT: higher than reference

ALT / GPT: Higher than reference (actually double the top reference)

Its like I cannot live the way I want or am used to. I cannot live my life normally. And the docotrs I've met doesn't seem to want to investigate it. One of them just said it's "PROBABLY" a viral infection and I have been working too much (behind computer screen).

Maybe I worry for nothing but it has sustained for 3-4 months so to me it doesn't feel like a virus. I just don't wanna have to call an ambulance in case something happens to me.

Maybe it actually is nothing but to me it doesnt sound normal.

One of my friend was also sick all the time and the doctors just send him home saying "you have a virus" till 1 year later when ONE doctor out of 5 took care of him and they found out he had cancer.

I'm not saying I do that but looking now for more views on my illness. If I should keep searching help or wait it off.

Thanks to everyone!

Update: It actually feels like I have a low fever now, or inflammation and I have been inside all day.

    How old are you?

You might have glandular fever (a viral infection) - this makes you feel tired and groggy.

It also explains your raised monocytes and mild transaminitis

The symptoms can go on for months im afraid. Dont play contact sports.

What sort of cancer are you worried about?

      Thank you for your response.

I am 26 years old, male. Not concerned about cancer. May have made myself a little unclear but that was just my friend I talked about.

To describe my slight lack of conciousness, it feels daily like I am in a dream. Like I live in a dream. Nothing feels real.

Also doctor tested Epstein-Barr virus on the blood test and it all turned to 0. So negative.

      Ermm the plot thickens.

EBV is the main cause of glandular fever. But CMV can also cause it  Did they test you for that?

      How is your mood?

I have never been good at expressing myself and it's harder now.

Not sure about my mood. I would say I feel less emotions atm and would assume its mostly based on my conciousness.

Thank you for informing me about the glandular fever. I got the paper from the blood test he sent me, maybe you can see what they looked for.

      EBV EBNA lgG = 0

      EBV VCA / EA lgG = 0

      EBV VCA lgM = 0

      So you don’t have EBV.

CMV is a different virus - they probably havn’t tested you for it. But it doesn’t matter because diagnosing it wouldnt change the management - which is wait for it to get better.

Your other blood tests fit completely with a diagnosis of glandular fever and I’m afraid you are just going to have to wait this out. Medicine doesnt yet have a magic wand against viruses.

Avoid contact sports until you’re feeling better.

Eats looks of fruits and vegetables and stay well hydrated is the best I can give you I’m afraid.

As long as I know what this is about I am satisfied.

After searching around about CMV I found something which described my symptoms properly.

      https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/cmv/symptoms-causes/syc-20355358

      Under "Weakened immunity system"

      - Vision loss, due to inflammation of the light-sensing layer of the eye (retinitis)

And acording to WebMD: CMV retinitis This one is spot on.

      - Nervous system problems, including brain inflammation (encephalitis) (I noticed I have problem to understand people because I don't hear what their words, but I can hear them speak. Sort of)

Pneumonia (I haven't any of these symptoms but I guess one does not have to experience every symptom)

I appreciate your help very much and will consult with a GP about this. Maybe it's possible to find this by a blood test.

      Thank you.

There is a blood test for CMV.

The rest of what you’ve posted is utter rubbish and you’re GP will laugh if you say those things.

CMV Retinitis, pneumonia and encephalitis are real but they happen to people with end stage AIDS and they’re often fatal.

In immunocompetent people - which you are - CMV causes a disease similar to EBV - glandular fever is what you need to google.

Okay will try to find more so I can express myself better for the doctor.

I'm gonna mention I got a recommendation to test "CMV" or/and "grandular fever". Anything else?

If you’re going to see you’re GP again I would ask them whether they think its poseible you have the “CMV version of glandular fever”.

Ok I'm gonna ask about test for

      Grandular Fever and/or CMV

      HIV / AIDS

I had unprotected sex once a good while ago and tested myself 2 months later. My doctor never mentioned it but online I could read about how it sometimes takes longer to diagnose HIV. God hope I don't have either of that.

Once I get a result or answer I will come back here and update.

Thank you very much for your help. You have no idea how much I appreciate it.

By all means ask for an HIV test - thats sensible.

But please do not tell them that you think you’ve got CMV encephalitis - they’ll think your a crank.

Ok I got some updates again!

Just came back from the GP. A little embarrassing though but better safe than sorry.

I asked about "Granular Fever" which he told me was EBV was and I already tested Granular and it turned out negative.

Also told him about my reduced consciousness  or my lowered perception/alertness which he just told me to stop googling. This triggered me very much but I remained calm and considerate of his words because maybe he is right. Although it started with me performing worse at work followed by less understanding of my surrounding and my girlfriend was the first to point this out "Are you ok? You seem so off" she told me multiple times before I realized something was wrong with all my sickness. First just thought it was a persistent flu or something.

With that said, I got an HIV test done and also some sort of herpes spleen I think it said.

He told me it was a viral infection about to be better as he could see on my blood tests and I could see by the look on his face he thought I was deluded. I knew from the first moment I would get nowhere. But he is the doctor and he is probably right.

He told me to wait it out and called my other psychological symptoms delusions. Nothing for me to do except stop working till I get better.

So for now I will just wait for the test results again!

I have a little update today!

Went to an eye doctor today and he told me I have "visual snow" which may explain my slightly blurred vision and flickering dots. Also my cognitive ability. This started from Thursday so soon a week.

Still waiting for the HIV test  I don't find anything on google causing constant illness and visual snow except "some autoimmune disease".

Ok so I went to see a neurologist since I decide to take the specialist path  to find out what my problem is. It seem to get progressively worse lately. I cannot be outside for 30 minutes anylonger. Just a trip to the store 3 minutes away makes me feel very very physically bad.

He booked in an MRI scan in a few days for the brain. I am not sure what he suspected but some sort of inflammation?

    HIV test came back negative.

Will update when I know more
