Sore spot on wound

Posted , 12 users are following.

After doing really well and reached 4wks in recovery i have a sore spot developed on the wound.

I had continuous suture and at the 2week check the nurse said all was fine and no suture visible to snip ends as was suggested in hospital.

The wound had been great till today when end has become hot and sore.

Because of position my daughter took a look and thinks it is the end of suture but that it could have pus under.

Obviously Im anxious not to have this deteriorate so going to request treatment room apt tomorrow.

If cant get an apt should i go urgent care dept?

TIA 😕

    Hi Angela,

It sounds like ur following thru and doing well after 4 was since THR. Take it easy and trust ur judgement.  In the area u have described, if it  is worse by tomorrow, & what u describe can be a reason to be cautious. If the incision is red and hot just to go in for a dr to look for any signs of infection is reasonable and for peace of mind. Or try a urgency care clinic if ur dr is out. In my experience, usually they can squeeze u in or refer u to another dr who can see you. Have it checked it's better to be cautious than risk any complications.

    Well wishes sent your way!

I agree with hope4cure, that you should have it checked out. Better safe than sorry.

Yes please go to urgent care and have it checked as you do not want infection in the wound which can travel after 72 hrs. Please let us know. Good Luck and take Care!

    Hi Angela

As the others have said - yes you could get this checked within the next 24 hrs - sounds like it could be a little bit of localised infection around the suture end -I had same suture as youv( and my nurse couldn't find any ends to trim either) if it is infected it will be easily treatable so please don't worry but do get it seen. Let us know how you get on xxx

At 4 weeks iv developed this to. The first 2 inches or so of my incision have become quite sore. It makes me think of when you have a bruise and touch it.

Im assuming maybe there ia some bruising under the skin. Is this the same kind of pain for you?

Its looking like a small boil if you know what i mean and quite tender.

I have managed to get an apt at the treatment room at 10:15 today so will let you all know what happens x

Fast service at treatment room today.

Nurse found it was the stirch end at thigh end of scar.

She removed it, sent a swab to check for any infection. Dressed it as now open a little and to return for check in two days.

    Feel happier now ☺
