Sore spot on wound

Posted , 12 users are following.

After doing really well and reached 4wks in recovery i have a sore spot developed on the wound.

I had continuous suture and at the 2week check the nurse said all was fine and no suture visible to snip ends as was suggested in hospital.

The wound had been great till today when end has become hot and sore.

Because of position my daughter took a look and thinks it is the end of suture but that it could have pus under.

Obviously Im anxious not to have this deteriorate so going to request treatment room apt tomorrow.

If cant get an apt should i go urgent care dept?

TIA 😕

Back at treatment room today. No improvement yet and nurse thinks can see more suture material....i had continuous disolvable subcutaneous suture.

3 days left on the doxycycline and to go back again thursday.

Bit worried about the rest of suture causing deterioration so fingers crossed the abx do clear things up soon.

Feel "off" with the abx but also after doing any activities...washing/dressing, going for walk i am absolutely shattered and bit shaky.

Was doing so well tho...feel disappointed and like gone backwards. 😢

This will pass and you will move on & so many here are pulling for this to end soon. It's hard to cope with yet you sound like you're doing all the right things.

Hope you will be round the corner to overcoming this soon.

      many blessing sent your way!

Things will improve Angela - this is a surface infection and will respond to antibiotics , although it may take s second course - if it helps I had same type of suture and an issue with , although not infected but very worrying , clear fluid leaking out from from one to four weeks post op - it did stop and my wound is fine now - but I was very dispondent at the time - convinced everything had gone wrong. You are bound to feel 'off' while on the antibiotics and your body is telling you to slow down a bit so it can get on with the job of healing things up for you - try not to worry - take it easy and let us know how you get on Thursday . Big hug xxxxxx

Thanks all of you. You all give sound advice and encouragement.

I think after first two weeks when most of us felt rough i had started healing and the infection had delayed my progress

I know i shouldnt worry and it will pass but its harder to remain as positive.

Today is another day....my hubby n daughter are great but the hippies on here REALLY understand.

      Thanks ❤💙💚
