    hi Fata,

i had this for over a year and finally recently got diagnosed with vagal neuropathy. the pain you are experiencing in the morning is likely due to the fact that you refluxed all night, our vagus nerve is in charge of our digestion and our esohpagus valve, so when you have vagal neuropathy your digestion and valve dont work as well, causing "silent" reflux also known as LPR. when you have vagal neuropathy you also get pain in your throat (nerve pain), mine was always worst in the morning too. I'd love to help you through this since it was such a nightmare to me! if you want to chat on the phone let me know. im so blessed to finally understand whats going on with me

I had a 24 PH test, a upper endoscopy, & a manometry test & they all came back 100% too. No signs of acid reflux or anything. I'm at such a loss cause they all say how red my throat is but they cant find the source. They also put me on Amitriptilyne 100 MG for 2 months for possible nerves & i felt no relief there either. The medicine made my throat REALLY dry on top of the pain so it was awful. I have no answers & my husband is a part of all these general motors lay offs so we lose our insurance the 30th so just been praying something gives.

Similar testing to myself but I also had a bravo chip fitted in my oesophagus me then later a restek probe fitted in my larynx.

Both of those showed no indication of pH changes for acid reflux.

      BUT......

What if you are showing NERD. Non Erosive Reflux Disease.? Actually I think of it as a condition than a disease.

My Gastroenterologist and ENT believe that is what I'm going through.

The pH will not necessarily change and, I think, that gaseous burps etc carry vapours of gastric contents from your stomach to your throat area, sometimes to sinuses and nasal passages, some people even lungs. Those carry pepsin as a digestive enzyme which damages those areas out comes into contact with.

Rather than amytriptaline I was placed on Nortriptyline.

LPR is the label that I have been given.

      Just to add....

I asked to see the time graph from my Bravo and Restek monitoring. Both were considered very normal in results. But both had one or two small blips, lasting seconds. The Gastroenterologist told me that is completely normal and happens to everyone.

But those small blips are enough, my thinking, to reactivate the pepsin held in the larynx area which has been carried up there previously. The pepsin enzyme needs an acidic environment to start to corrode tissue. The throat area has the least protection from this.

The above are my thoughts, from reading what others have noted with LPR and video presentations watched, as well as papers read.

      Best wishes.

    HI everyone ..

I just wanted to let you know that i too was in terrible problems with my voice and throat for MANY years - It hurt to even speak in general, like a razor cutting my throat - and it turns out that I have big problems with my thyroid (I have hashimotos now diagnosed after a very long journey seeing many specialists.)

As soon as i started levothyroxine, my sore throat disappeared finally!

So make sure any thyroid issues are ruled out too x

I dont know ive been checked for that. My CBC and lipid panel came up perfect. Im gonna contact my regular doctor to ask. Thank you so much for the info!! I see a Gastro next week but your issue sounds similar to mine. Any other symptoms besides your bad sore throat?

yes .... i had alot of neurological problems - migraines and such like -

i was tested by my regular doctor over the years and nothing ever showed up on his tests ... it was only when i went to a thyroid specialist that he diagnosed my problem - and it was severe!! try and push to get checked by a specialist x

hi don't know if anyone will see this but, i was diagnosed with lpr , it first started with sore throats that led up to me having tonsillitis. after that what ever i ate would make my throat feel so tight and swollen i had to go to the er. i finally seen a ent . so i literally changed my diet to gluten free , veggies everyday and no diary accept for eggs , i cook everything with coconut oil and even if i have a cracker it messes me up. i boil chicken and drink bone broth because the real cause is a messed up gut in most cases. get a good quality probiotic, change diet for atleast 6months and oil pull with coconut oil. i sometimes cheat but its been a month of healthy eating and the difference its made is amazing. sad i can't eat the "good" foods pizza, rice, etc. and i also lost alot of weight that i havent been able to gain back wich ent says its okay because bmi isnt under weight . good luck to all its a terrible experience.
