Sore throat right side and enlarged right lingual tonsil for a year

im really out of my mind and stressed about my situation.
im 32 yr old male, smoking for 14 years but light smoker for the past 9 years (5 cig a day)
anyway its all started a year ago with numb throat pain on my right side. i thought its something viral that will go away and after arround 2-3 months it did ease abit but never went away, 3 months ago the pain started to intensify only this time i started to feel pain in right side of the tongue along with the right sore throat but i couldnt see anything suspicious, a month ago i have pulled my tongue out and saw a lump, deep on the right side, i went to my gp wich was very concerd about it and send me to a mouth specialist, while waiting for my appointment to the specialist i went to th ent wich saw it and gave my antibiotic and cream for the lump and sended me to urgent us scan of thyroid..
couple days later i went to the mouth specialist wich said its not likely to be cancerous and identified the lump as an enlarged "lingual tonsil" but with not special pathology. she told me that she though that i have acid reflux as she saw traces in my throat and also told me to not take the antibiotics that the ent gave me as it wownt help for the lump. she also thought she feel some enlarged lymph node in my neck so she sended me to do a us neck scan and continue the check with endoscopy from ent and also a gastro specialist to make endoscopy to see if there gerd problem and prescribed nexium. meanwhile 2 weeks passed and the nexium has no effect , the pain is still there in my right side throat and also back in my right side tongue. i had a neck ultrasound a week ago wich said no evidence of enlarged lymph nodes wich is so weird as i fill like my neck is swallen, tight. i should have an ent appointment this week but im suffering so much i have no idea what to do next. i feel alone in this as i have found anyone on the internet with same problem as mine, i searched many places but couldnt find a similar person with same symptoms and im out of my mind for what this could be. im very concernd about cancer as this started a year ago. also im almost sure that my throat pain is related to the tongue pain from the enlarged lingual tonsil.
please if anyone can advise or help me or have any similar symptoms please reply my thread and share, im desperate this ruining my life and i dont know what to do anymore or whats going on.

I can't believe I found this. I have had the same thing you all seem to be experiencing for the past 2 months . Symptoms are sore throats on right side, feeling of a plugged ear (like it needs to pop) on the right side, a tender lymph node under jawbone near ear, feeling of a lump in throat, and swollen lingual tonsils, I can see two red bumps I am assuming are the lingual tonsil at the very back of the tongue. If anyone has any advice from their experience with this I would really appreciate it. I am also at risk because I chew tobbacco and have for the past 5 years. I am only 23. I went to the dentist a week ago and he said that he could not see anything, but if it continues to go to an ENT. I have been trying to take it easy on the tobbacco use and have been gargling nightly with saltwater the past week. So far I only seem to notice it more. Is this in my head? I also definitely have acid reflux, I am constantly regurgitating acid into my throat. I already try to watch the foods I eat to reduce this, it seems like almost anything causes it though. I am trying to get into an ENT to take a look, but I am being told by insurance I need to go to GP first. Apparently the dentist referrel will not work. I am extremely worried, all the time, it has started to seriously take over my life. Just hope the GP won't be a waste of any time and I can get this thing figured out. If any of you have any thoughts on what this is or what to watch out for please let me know. It is comforting to know that I'm not the only one experiencing this

Well.. after all this they checked my thyroid levels and no one ever told me that my thyroids were slightly over active in January 2017 and I found this out in may .. had bloodscdone agsin in may and it was normal which when the pains really started... had bloods done again in august and they found this time my thyroid was in fact under active which the endocriniologist has confirmed that I have either post partum thyroiditis or subacute thyroiditis.. I did have a baby last year in June and also had a bad viral infection in December 16'/ January 17' which took 6 weeks to clear and can give you subacute thyroiditis.. I do still get pain in my neck that goes up to my ears and my jaws but this is normal if you have thyroiditis and apparantly it can be very painful which is what I'm experiencing!! And it take ups to 18 months to get over the endocrinologist although apparantly some ppl it takes longer! So just get your thyroid levels checked and for the women, did you give birth recently??

I'm happy I found this. I'm female, 23 years old. I was having occasional trouble swallowing that seemed to get worse after getting a terrible cold. It has been driving me insane and making me not want to do much of anything. Went to a bunch of doctors to which they chalked it up to its probably just anxiety. Then I had shortness of breath. They said that it's probably just acid reflux. Tried meds. Didn't work. I have an endoscopy in 2 days. Went to another Dr and that one said I probably have the beginning of bronchitis. Gave me inhaler to help breathing. Inhaler doesn't help.
I was looking in my throat one day since the right side was feeling very weird. Like numb-ish. But throat looked normal as did my P. tonsils. I did notice though that I kept getting a feeling that I had to keep clearing my throat even though nothing was there. What I did see was that at the super base of my tongue-borderline down my throat/right before my epiglottis (i have a super visible epiglottis and a very open throat) are bumps that were very red and looked swollen and "pushed out"-i guess lingual tonsils. Since I found that out I have been checking it out all the time and it seems that some times its more swollen than others.
Sometimes it even pushes on my epiglottis and makes it crooked looking or pushes it to the way back of my throat (my epiglottis is not swollen, i went to the doctor to have it looked at ).
It's my right side that bothers me more. I'm assuming that is what is causing my trouble swallowing. I also have right ear pain. Headache that feels like it radiates from the back of my neck/head. I was thinking maybe I have mono. I've never has it before but my bf has in the past-so it's a matter of time. I have never had any tonsils taken out. But my P.tonsils have always given me problems.
Interestingly-not sure if related but I have a lump on the back of my neck. Pretty big and it didn't show up on an ultrasound. Dr doesn't know. But knows it isn't a lymph node. I had a CAT scan yesterday and waiting for results for that.
I do have slightly enlarged lymph nodes in both of the under sides of chin area. Left is bigger.
And one on the right side of my neck-small but Dr noticed it. I'm gonna go insane! I want it to end! The headaches feel like heat taking over my upper body just randomly sometimes. It's the weirdest thing. I put really cold washcloth on my neck and head and it seems to help quickly. And before I know it I'm back to normal. Its like I'm overheating even though I don't have a fever and it isn't even hot in the room!

Any updates***. I have the same symptoms as you all do. Has gotten worse the last few days. Can't hardly swallow. Right side only. Seems like ear, jaw, throat and teeth on my right side is affected by this. Have been to family doctor 3 times and she is referring me to a ENT.

This swelling presses against the tonsil which gives us the feeling on pain in tonsil/at the base of toung/ lingual tonsil.
All please check and let me know if this is the case with all, also check videos on YouTube for eagle syndrome.

Hi everyone. I have the same thing, a pain on the right side of my throat. It feels as if something were stuck in my throat. I've had this pain after I got glandular fever last september. It started with a terrible burning pain on the right side of my neck/throat a few weeks after I got sick. The pain went away after a month, but ever since then I get a sore throat every now and then. I've been diagnosed with allergic rhinitis (I think the viral infection caused this.) I've seen drs, but they tell me it's GERD/allergies.
In the last few days it has got worse, I constantly need to clear my throat. I get cough after talking and my voice sometimes gets hoarse. I'm concerned it could be something serious but everyone tells me it's just the weather. I used to be a smoker for 8 years (I quit a year and a half ago.) I'm terrified of serious illnesses like cancer. Could this be related to a virus/allergy? Or should I go to the dr again? I'm so stressed.

I truly am shocked that I just read that. I have been going through this for the past 4 months now. Im tired of hearing that it's just a sore throat or strep throat or what ever Just to get a antibiotic that doesn't work and has no effect. Mine isn't everyday of my life all day. It comes and goes. It will last about 3-4 days of excruciating pain then slowly go away. I never thought of the site on the back of my tongue to be a factor here at all. I totally thought it was unrelated and i had a canker sore bec thats what it feels like.. I am scared to death of it and don't know who to even seem to it... a ear nose and throat? Please let me know what you did beg I see this was posted a year ago so I'm really hoping you received some answers by now. The pain just started out of nowhere again tonight, and already only 3 hours after it started its excruciating. I even just tried to eat a ice cream thinking it would help but was I wrong. I couldn't even swallow it. Please let me know what you did and what steps you took. .. thanks for hearing me and hope to hear from you soon.

How are you doing now? Like you, I’ve been to different specialists and they all said acid reflux. I even had an endoscopy done by the results came out normal.
I’m starting to think that this was caused by the antibiotics. Did you take antibiotics as well?

Same here. Seems like new symptoms come up every few weeks. Mine started with excess saliva, followed by difficulty in swallowing. A few weeks later I got chronic heartburn and now I have throat pain on one side and shortness of breath. My primary doctor prescribed PPIs for 2 months. Tried it for 1 month with no improvement. It actually made me feel worse so I stopped taking it. Currently seeing a functional medicine doctor as well. It will be my 4th session tomorrow. He's been giving me different herbal remedies every week but so far hasn't made an improvement.
Hang in there! We can't give up on this. I was perfectly healthy before that dreaded tooth extraction and I'd be happy if I get back to half of what my health used to be.
I'll post anything that gives me any kind of relief.
