Sore to touch rib cage

My problem is at my left flank side I think the 10th last rib connected to your sternum, when I touch, press or rub the lowest part of the 10th rib (waistline).. it hurts like sharp pins and sore, inch in lenght and size, after a day my right flank develop the same but milder.

It doesn't hurt when breathing/deep breathing, eating, laughing, stretching or even sleeping on that side, when i'm not touching it, it feels burning or like something stuck in my ribs.

Does anyone know this or have the same experience???

Hey, I have been having a pain in my right rib, under my breast (right along my bra line) for months now. It gets worse and then better, seemingly at random, but is always tender and sore to the touch. I've been to the hospital twice and they've checked my lungs, gallbladder, made sure it wasn't broken, etc. It's come with several symptoms of IBS, but the thing that's making me confused and kind of stressing me out is how it hasn't gone away, and it's visibly deformed now. On my left side, my rib cage is visible with the outline of the bottom Ron very defined. On my right side, you can barely see where my rib cage ends. I hate saying it's swollen because it isn't hard, it's just sort of puffy.

Most of my symptoms are exactly like the ones on this thread so I guess I'm wondering if I'm looking in the right areas and if anyone else is having visible differences in their ribs from this.

The first time I want to the doctor that did an xray and said it must be pleurisy. After a month had passed with nothing helping I want back and they checked my gallbladder and did a d dimer to make sure it wasn't a bloodclot. I've never had to see a specialist for anything and I just got on insurance so I'm not sure where to go from here, but this constant pain is making it very difficult to keep up with my kids and work.

I am 27 years old and I've had 2 c sections. Other than that, I've been pretty healthy until this year.

If you ever figure out why this is, please let us know. I have very similar symptoms (although sometimes mine also feels badly more along my side and back as well). I had a clear ultrasound and am waiting on blood test results.

horrible pain in my rib cage, Only acupuncture helps and vicodin.

big problem with bras. They rub against the ribs. I don't wear underwire bras .

    tey make it worse.

I do wear underwire bras. But this pain feels like under rib and constant while sitting. Standing or laying on left side helps. So frustrating! Had tons of tests. Everything is negative.

my gyne doctor said that underwire cut off blood circulation. It potentially leads to breast cancer. I STOPPED wearing underwired bras although no wire gives poor shape. Also you don't know how the metal affects rib cage. it might be not directly but indirectly.

I have the same thing going on since June of 2016. I've had all sorts of tests done and now they are going to try physical therapy. I'm praying this helps...

Let me know if you find anything else that helps.

I've had pain in my ribs for years. It's a very sharp pain. My acupuncturist put very short needles in my entire rib cage. Then he bent them slightly to cover  with tapes. The needles stayed there for the entire week. Pain disappeared

That's amazing!! Was it painful to have them in your ribs for the week? How long ago did you have it done?

Hi I get painful areas mainly on my ribs, really sore to the touch and seems to change on a weekly basis where it's sore. One week is the bottom left rib and then middle right rib etc. Usually have between 5 to 10 sore spots over my ribs. Doctors haven't really came up with anything and ibhave had lots of scans and blood tests. I guess it might be fibro, but hard to know for sure :0 (

Hi. Exact same thing. More annoying than anything else. I was at physio with a torn calf and while I was there, I mentioned the prob. She gave me a proper look over and as Iay on my stomach she poked at specific points on my back. Each point was directly behind the source of discomfort to my front and each (relatively) gentle poke made me shoot for the ceiling! I don't have back pain at all, but she definitely found it.

Now, everytime I feel the pain at the front, I dig a knuckle into my back behind the pain and although the pain doesn't stop, it gets much less.

It seems as if the pain etc is radiating through my core to the front.

I was given exercises and it went away. I stopped exercising and it came back.

Now I'm on a mission to get fit again (after years on inactivity and stress it's a long slog but getting easier)

Perhaps this could be the cause for some of your discomfort. More muscular skeletal than stomach?

I too have ibs probs but don't think it's linked in my case.

    Good luck

Very simple things to start with. Overhead arm stretches and upper body twists. We discovered that my left side was all out of line and years of stress had left my shoulder muscles overly tense (short)

It might be worth trying a physio to see what they say for you?

      Good luck.

Yes...I've started PT last week. It's going to be a very slow process for me I think. They started me with stretches and very light exercise bands. It feels good while doing them, but it's the next day when everything acts up... rolleyes

I think that's normal. My pain had stopped and I went and did one stretch (not given by the pt and the pain instantaneously came back) I'm at a point where I'm now starting back to running which is stretching my core a little and it feels good too.

Good luck on your journey and I hope it gets betters soon
