Spending entire days in a daze

Hi there

I'm 43, recently underwent a stent. Prior to the procedure I was on 2.5mg, then 5mg, then 7.5 then 10 of Bisoprolol to help with the pain whilst waiting. The lower doses really did nothing for me - I'm a tall, average built guy, fariyl fit and the doc warned me the doses would end up higher.

But now I've had the stent, I'm still on the 10mg for life, along with a handful of other drugs.

Thing is, some days - today - I am in an absolute daze. I don't eat, I walk like a zombie, I can barely communicate with my partner and I feel incredibly down, inside. On the one hand I know what is causing it and I know how it's affecting everything but then I can't control or fix it.

I've talked to the doctor about lowering the dose, but he has concerns and wants me to stay on 10 for longer.

I find it incredibly hard to raise my heart rate. I was in physio after the procedure and had a target HR of 115, I couldn't get over 91 on the exercises they had me doing, despite them continually telling me to work harder - the reps weren't long enough. The original 115 took me a constantly increasing walk to run test, over 20 mins.

Sorry if I am rambling. I am just looking for others as I'm sure this is common. Is this usual? At some point I have to return to work, but like this, I can't imagine it.

Thank you.

You poor man your not rambling , if I were you I would be camping outside the GP to get the dose reduced , or get back to your consultant , it's sounds like you are having a horrid time , take care and keep posting

So I should update this. A month ago I saw my cardiologist and then my gp and reduced my dose to 5mg daily. I do feel better, generally. I am not so sleepy during the day which is nice. Although I have noticed that my mood / how i feel inside hasn't really changed. So, yeah, swings and roundabouts I guess.

Progress if not perfection.  Sounds good TK.  Life isn't for life and neither was 10mgs of Bisoprolol.  I'm afraid that what some of us try to deny is that we have experienced a health incident and the way forward will provide new challenges.  I personally found Bisopr, at a much lower dose than yours, a sleep-inducing depressant although a chum of mine copes well on 5mgs a day.Are you still on the clopidogrel, aspirin and statin?   Me too.  My statin has been reduced to 20mgs and I have been told I can stop the clop after one year.As you might realise, I drive my GP crazy and suggest you do the same.  This is something I read.  Clopidogrel and aspirin have similar qualities but they keep us on the aspirin because it's so much cheaper.  I think the docs will say that those 2 drugs achieve different things - but worth a query perhaps.

We must be patient as well as patients is my thought of the day. Good luck and keep us posted.
