Spinning room

Okay ladies, I just woke up and raised my head and the room started spinning...just like when you are drunk. It only lasted 30 seconds, but the panic attack it caused is still going on. I've never experienced anything like that before and I just finished my period yesterday. No new medications or anything. I am on the verge of tears. I just went back to work. I need to be normal.

Vertigo. Google how to reset your inner ear crystals. It worked for me.

Also, when the room starts spinning, try and pick an object to focus on.

Why is this happening! I just want to be normal again.

For me it happened after my greyhound died. I was crying alot. Maybe it was enough to unbalance those crystals. My friend is an ENT doctor and he told me what to do to reset them. It's some exercises you do on your bed turning your head. It helped. Then he said to pick something in your room to focus on. If the room starts spinning don't close your eyes but find that object and stare at it. That also helped. I suffered for about two weeks and then it went away.

Odd thing is, when my friend's greyhound died she got vertigo.

It is a scary thing when you open your eyes and the room is spinning so fast. The first time it happened to me it threw me into the dry heaves so bad. AWFUL

oh gosh, that is incredibly sad. I'm sorry for your loss. This is a year of learning for me. I didn't know migraine auras existed or everyone has crystals in their ears. I feel like a fool.

Thank you. It wasn't dizziness, it was full on room spinning. This plus migraine auras is too much for me to handle.

My physio did the eply manoeuvre and 6 years of vertigo just stopped. It's returned on and off but I do a diy version of the eply and it clears up. I still get dizziness and vestibulsr migraines but the spinning stops.

I was reading that it can happen to people who spent time inverted (think yoga). I was gardening yesterday and I was bent forward with my head down for some time. I dunno...maybe I am reaching for straws.

That could be the cause. Your crystals move about in your ear canal. The eply manoeuvre puts them back inplace

    Hi Staci,

I got vertigo back in 1997 and I've had it ever since. the first 2 yrs of it were the worst but since going through Peri i have it all the time.

for you it depends what the cause is as it can be set off by illness, sometimes stress and hormonal imbalance as in peri and meno. but there are other causes you must rule out i.e. ear infection, sinus infection, menieres etc just a few things... I'm not saying its any of those things just that there are lots of causes and if you are concerned het it checked out. but dizziness and vertigo for the first time seems to be pretty common in peri and meno...

good luck hope it settles for you, i know how scary and debilitating it can be... hang in there
