Spondylolisthesis-Grade 2 + DDD

Posted , 4 users are following.

I have a Grade 2 Spondylolisthesis at L4 plus two severely degenerated disks, I have suffered with it for almost 30 years. I have got used to the back pain ,but since 2010 I have been experiencing numbness at first but now a deep gnawing pain in my right leg if I stand for more than 30 minutes , or walk more than half a mile. I have been taking DHC Continus for the past 3 years , it helps a little, but a few months ago the pain started in my left leg sad so I had another MRI done , the scan shows severe compression of the right hand side nerve root at L3 , and compression of the left hand side nerve root at L4.

I am awaiting my Spinal Consultant appointment - 10 weeks away yet !,I just hope they can ease it , whether by Injections or Surgery.

I am 55 , and this has gone on long enough, I will post again when I have news , fingers crossed .

Sounds like you're doing  so well, Gary!  I never had a TENS unit, but maybe it would be good for the remaining twinges and light pain if I sit too long. Have to look into that. Thanks!Donna

    How are you doing Gary?

      Hi Elizabeth,

I wrote before but for some reason, the moderator deleted my reply! I'm doing pretty well overall. As good as I can expect for 68 I think. Since I still deal with an old tailbone fracture and some intermittent sacral and sciatic pain (way less than before my spondylo surgery), I don't expect to be pain free, of course. I just keep moving and believing if I get stronger it will be even better.

I'm sorry you have to go thru yet another knee surgery, but it's sounding like the only answer. Wish you didn't have to wait so long in between appointments.  Gary and I will keep cheering you on!

Thanks Donna I will keep posting thou it will be Sept before i see the consultant again. I will need some encouragement then. I see people ten years younger than myself working and walking ,and just so wish i could do things that others take for granted. I find it difficult to fill my days. Living alone makes it hard also as i hve noone at home to support me.

Keep smiling and encouraging one another is a great comfort.

      Best wishes.

      Elizabeth.

Wonderful to hear this Gary! So far you're right on track as you planned...that's great! You did everything you were told like a "good boy" and that has made a world of difference I'm sure. Keep taking care of yourself!
