I am 57 and I was quite active before this. I have since hurt myself bursting a muscle in my hip with a bruise and swelling. The fluid is not going down and a small sore is taking for ever to heal. Do you get your energy back from this in time, and will your body heal quicker. Thanks

It will get better as your dose reduces. But the ease of fatigue is almost entirely to do with the PMR - the pred only manages the inflammation to reduce the symptoms. The cause of the inflammation is an underlying autoimmune disorder that makes your immune system unable to recognise your body as self - and that continues even while you are on pred. Just like "cold remedies" stop your nose running and maybe make you feel a bit better but the viral infection still makes you feel rubbish.
Some people don't have healing problems - I don't for example - but many do and also their skin is very fragile, tearing very easily. You might find that using arnica helps - lots of us do.
And remission may be a very long way away - you have to learn to pace yourself and "manage your spoons" in the meantime. This is a link to our reading list:

Right at the bottom you will find a link to another post about pacing. And google the spoons theory by Christina Miseriando for an allegory to help living with chronic illness.

I am surprised that you have never heard of them - seems to me that they are everywhere! You can google it for almost every major city, and a lot of smaller ones. The "Cadillac" care is from Cenegenics, but there are a lot of individual practitioners that are reasonably priced, if there is such a thing in the medical world.

This isn't a US forum Shelley, most of us (still) are in the UK.

Possibly - but not within the NHS (the healthcare system) and we aren't enthusiastic about paying large amounts of money for unproven treatments!

Forgive my skepticism, but wouldn't you think if there is a true anti-aging medicine the whole world would know about it? There has been some encouraging research on ways to prevent DNA damage but I'm not sure if it's even reached the human clinical trials stage yet.
