Hi im 11 weeks Post Op and when I stand from sitting or getting out of bed I get this awful stiffness like someone pulling a belt tight around my knee??? Does anyone get medication for what I assume is stiffness or do we just deal with it???

I still get that Andrea, at 30+ weeks - but then, I have a whole host of TKR problems. I always described it as a diagonal feeling, across the knee, & above the knee, like someone pulling on a drawstring bag!! Have my next consultant meeting on Thursday, can't wait as this is my 2nd opinion man!! Certainly didn't expect this lump of lead for a leg at over half a year past TKR!

Four months on and know how you feel. Had x ray and ultra sound yesterday all looks good so they said it must be soft tissue and muscles - needing Physio and deep tissue massage . Feels better to know not the only one as I also expected to be better by now and lump of lead is exactly how my knee feels even when it's comfortable . Stiffness will be issu e until hamstrings and quads are strong I believe

Ice helps relieve this best and massage with bio oil also anti inflammatory tablets or gel. It is weird but will go .

Hi, I' only 17days post op but I was told to regularly deep massage my knee and scar using plenty of E45 cream and to keep on massaging until all the cream has disappeared. This does seem to help as well as the ice packs. I also have anti inflammatory tablets too.

I do just put up with it.  I think it must be something to do with laying in one position for a long time.   It loosens up though when I move about.  I don't work now.
