Hi im 11 weeks Post Op and when I stand from sitting or getting out of bed I get this awful stiffness like someone pulling a belt tight around my knee??? Does anyone get medication for what I assume is stiffness or do we just deal with it???

I am 12 weeks PO and I also get this. Seeing the consultant on the 10th June.

I am making a list of questions to take with me.

I was told by my consultant two weeks ago that it would take up to a year for my knee to feel normal.  There are so many nerves, ligaments etc yo knit together and hence the stiffness.  All completely normal.   You have to be patient.

Yes I was told that too he said there are many small structures that get damaged but heal in time and continue to heal for up to twelve months. That's why he said that on spite of perfect scan and x ray I still have swelling in calf and discomfort on steps and walking too far . Be a patient patient

I had something similar after my first TKR last year, with a very painful 'Click-crunch' every time I took a step; this, my Dr said, was scar tissue which had formed, and which I had to work through. One of the best things, I found, was swimming, and especially, using the hot tub at the pool. I found the heat enabled me to stretch and exercise it. As far as the night time pain is concerned, \I'm just longing for it to stop; thank you all for your comments and ideas. I shall try thje bio oil massage tonight; I've been pretty useless today, I'll admit. Feeling quite apprehensive about the idea of work on Monday, but I can only try!

Good luck I went back too soon and was tired and tearful but after two weeks it was as if I never stopped!
