Stiff neck for ages and now tingling/numb fingers & toes

Has anyone suffered with the above - I've had a stiff neck since March with wierd head pressure feelings - I've had a few cranial osteopathic sessions which helped and even went away for a couple of weeks but now it's back and I've had tingling and slightly numb fingers and toes - I am so fed up and terrified it's something really serious - endlessly at the doctor who thinks I'm crazy and says CBT every time - had blood tests in Jan and all fine - does anyone out there get this - it's very debilitating and getting me down. Sorry to bother you all out there but thank god for you x

Thank you to all of you for your reassuring comments - just have another question for anyone out there - I've just started taking Vit B supps and see now that my pee is almost fluorescent yellow - is this normal?

      Hi Sophie,

Yes. Vitamin B supplements will turn your pee yellow. I take them. No need to worry. smile

      Hi again,

I forgot to mention that it is specifically the B2 vitamin that does it. It's the Riboflavin.

To all the ladies in this post: when anxiety is prevalent (as it so often is in peri or menopause) it can make, particularly neck & shoulder muscles, tense & tight, so it completely makes sense the trouble & pain some of us have in these areas. even "salon" back neck & shoulder massages for half an hour can really help "release" that tension & relax tight muscles. so you don't always need "agressive" chiropracter type massage , maybe try a pamper back, neck & shoulder massage for half hour at your local beauty salon - this will be cheaper(usually around the £20 mark in uk) than chiropracters, physio's etc, & you may be surprised at the results(& relaxing effect) it has on you. I have had several in the past & felt like i could do cartwheels afterwards! plus it's a good treat for us all - we deserve it. xxx

    Hi Sophie,

could be spondlyosis of the neck, ask your gp for a referal for an mri scan on your neck and spine. Once ascertained how your spine and neck are then you can be refered to either othopeadics/ nurology or pain management team to help with the condition, hope this helps you.

    Hi Sophie

I had something very similar.  I tried the special pillows and special diets all to no avail and the doctor did the blood tests too.  In the end someone suggested I might be sleeping in a draft, I didn't think I was but agreed to try a scarf at night.  It cured the neck pain overnight and it's not come back since.  It's also greatly helped tingling in the fingers I was getting.  Hope you get better soon.

Thank you tomzo - I have replied to Craftylady's post which you can read as my post on my horrid neck problem was now almost a year ago!  I hope you are feeling well and thank you for your post.

Hi Sophie.  I'm just about to post some experiences that I'm feeling but when I saw yours I also see a corrolation of a sensation I get.  My neck too can get very strange.  It can feel stiff and achy.  I feel hunched up most of the time and I get a very strange sensation which I call my pressure neck.  This is where it feels like pressure coming up through my neck and my throat feels as though it's constricting. I can swallow and don't have pain but it's horrendous.  I'm wondering if my symptoms are connected to the Menopause myself.  I also suffer with anxiety which from what you are saying about the tingling is a classic symptom.  I had CBT.  It didn't work!!

Thank you Craftylady - my post on my neck issue was now almost a year ago!  Seems like yesterday - my stiff neck I had for about 4 months - it was awful as I couldn't turn my head to the left and was painful and it caused spasms to coarse through my head - I had cranial osteopathy which helped and one morning got up and it was completely gone - wierd.  The tingling went but I still get it from time to time and my neck can feel a little 'tight' plus shoulders and elbows. A year has passed and my periods are now on the way out - have had two periods this year, one of which was pretty much nothing lasting 48hrs - since this has happened, my symptoms are becoming less and less and the anxiety seems to have gone - I have gone through complete hell about 4hrs leading up to this point so I hope this gives women some confidence that it does all ease despite getting the odd symptom but I am more accepting and I haven't taken any medication. Hope you are feeling well and thank you for your post.

Hey, this happened to me as well. Im still in pain, i did research for about 4 months, i think i know what causing it, look up craniocervical junction disorder. If your pain comes back it probably because your atlas and c2 have became dislodged. Mine slipped back into place about 3 months ago and i was fine for a few days and while i was shaving i heard a pop in my neck and its been numb since. Doctors cant see in a ct scan due to the jawbone being in the way unless they are trained in upper cervical. Hope you stay healthy im going to get it checked out tomorrow smile
