Still feel unwell after Helicobacter Pylori Treatment
Posted , 107 users are following.
Hi,
I had symptoms for about 2 months, nausea and upper abdominal gwaning feeling, plus appetite affected and had waves in the day feeling generally unwell , I think it was brought on due to a stressful situation. I went to the doctors and tested positive for helicobacter pylori. I have completed the 7 day treatment (Triple Therapy.) I was on 400mg Metronidazole 3 times a day, Amoxicillin 500mg 3 times a day and Omeprazole 2 times a day. I've been off the medication for about 11 days. I have waves of extreme tiredness, abit sickly feeling, sick upper abdominal feeling, tounge doesn't look right, been given thrush treatment for this. And also I have waves of soreness and swelling feeling in the upper stomach. I have lost a bit of weight, a few pounds. I have been off work for a month in total and am wondering if I will ever get my health back?
I take probiotic tablets, Manuka honey, peppermint tea, abit of yoga, walking, plain foods. But admittedly at times I do feel a little bit destressed when I have waves of not feeling so good. Everyday is a battle at the moment. Plus when I go to the loo, last week my stools were acidic, this week a slight improvement, but not normal. The doctor just said they can retest in another 3 weeks. But sometimes I feel so ill.
Any advice in a positive way forward?

Hi ,Me too after treatment of H Pyroli nine and a half days of a course of tripple antibiotics i got worse each day and stopped the treatment. My major issue is the loose stool especially each morning i havebeen taking bismuth but doesn't seem to help much.I also tried the natural way t heal the gut with Licorice DGL but it gives me palpitations so i cannot continue with it.Slippery elm helped for about few days and seem not to help much.I am also taking probiotics 50billion which has makes me fogy.Omeprazole 40mg was prescribed to me but i haven't started yet otherwise follow up test Is H Pyroli Negative.I am taking Propolis capsules, chlorophyll. You feel uneasy after eating, anxiety ,dizzy .I manage by affirming"Healing","All is well and all shall be well" and i also take chamomile tea. Also i am taking Vitex for hormonal balance.
I intend to Order L glutamine powder online as it is very expensive in my country it heals the gut,I used it before my gut was happy before it flared up due to H Pyroli.
I wish everyone struggling easy and quick healing ,Dont forget to be positive all these shall pass.

Hi, I tried the red cabbage juice and it helped my heartburn. I used half a cabbage, one cucumber, three sticks of celery, apples and pears for taste and ginger root. It really helped me and I read it can cure ulcers. I stopped it because it was giving me some cramping but it is natural so no terrible side effects like it happens with medications.
I now developed a pain in my upper back and it seems it is related to digestion. It is like it is a never ending story!!!! The good thing is that I don't feel that weak and shaky through the entire day but still feeling some.

Yesterday I had such a bad stomach pain that my husband despite my refusal took me to ER. my blood pressure was 183/130 !!! of course as they were placing me to bed the pain stopped. They did all the checks and nothing was found. As I was leaving the hospital, my stomach started to get sore again as if making fun of me... I hate it ;(

Hi all,
I am feeling much better and I hope you guys are, too. I am dealing with a lot of anxiety but determined to work naturally on that!!! When I feel better I think I can eat like before and that is the mistake!! I have to watch my diet and do not forget how I feel after I eat something that is not healthy!! Goog luck for everybody and let's keep positive. Anxiety is hooorrible when we don't control it!

Hi everyone,
It's been 4 months since i finished my treatment. I did a follow up check and I am bacteria free. I feel much better, i can eat foods i couldn't eat before. I entered back garlic(cooked), tomatoes, etc. in my menu. I do feel repercusions when i eat fried food or heavy food by having stomac pain and I feel a bit weak, but it doesn't compare to the past when i had to constantly lie down. The main point is not to irritate the stomach badly. Anxiety is still here...not as bad, but i still worry when i take public transportation, for example. However i am fighting back with fitness. I have more energy, but I am also taking vitamines, as recommended by the dr. I have noticed that my resistance to car rides is not as ok as it used to be. If there are bumps in the road my stomach is not happy. And i have to eat regularly, otherwise the hunger gets real and my stomach starts to...riot. In a nutshell, it's getting better. Still feel some pain and nausea in the morning but not as bad. The menu is a lot richer. The silverlining of all this is that my daily diet is clean. I literally can't eat fast food...just taste it... which makes me healthier than before i ever had helicobacter. So don't lose hope. All the best, Ada. P.S. Thank you, Tamas, for asking

Hello folks it's been a wee while since I posted on here. 4 months since triple therapy - HP has been eradicated but my symptoms remain the same, so they are going to do another Gastroscopy soon as they now think that the HP was not the main cause, but merely incidental. However i do feel 90% better than i did before. The pain and reflux they think could be reverse peristalsis, but as to how much bile is staying in my stomach will be determined at the next gastroscope. I live at all times with a bottle of Maalox in my handbag and can drink up to a bottle a day on bad days but then i may have a couple of really good days (depending on diet) and I'll only use half a bottle. I'm still on the Alu caps before every time I eat, but i don't know if this really helps. One thing I have noticed is that I take a garlic capsule every day and since I have stopped this i can see and improvement. Glad you're mostly all feeling better - we will all get there in the end. Best wishes to you all xx

This is the same for me: if I stress myself or eat not good for diet, I feel unwell. Also if I don't eat for long time acid hurts me as well. I was flying abroad 2 weeks ago and I hate to fly, it gave me huge stress, acid and pain. I went to doctor who prescribed me PPI for a month now. Gosh, it is so slowly pass me by this sickness. I made also test, but I am free of bacteria. Needs time, time and time....

"When I feel better I think I can eat like before and that is the mistake!" How many times I did it also! Some weeks ago I ate tomato at morning...for 4-5 days I felt horrible. I realized that my stomach is still weak. Also bad for small seeds, if I don't eat for a long time (usually I eat at every 4 hours) or I stress myself. So bad when I feel okay for days I think I am already healthy and eat some bad food (sweets or french fries etc) then I feel bad for days again...takes time and time

Nice to read you are better. I am after the treatment with 7 months but not 100% yet. After 4 months is a good statement for you if you feel better already. I also tried everything what I could to calm my stomach. Recently a doctor prescribed me PPI's for a month ( I was not happy for it but hope it improves very strongly) and have no problems, but must keep the diet and eat regularly. Best wishes.

I only today discovered a very long interesting post you sent months ago. I never got a notification before. Strange! Thank you so much for it. It was incredibly helpful. I’m still trying hard to find more food to eat besides joghourt and milk. If you’re still looking into this forum I would like your advice. You know far more about this Helicobacter and stomach subject than anybody I believe. I’m now also able to eat 4 thin slices of Parma ham for some protein.

thanks for the compliments. I do my best. Please let me know if I can help you. How is your statement now? How much time was spent by therapy? Do you have problems?
I had therapy at October 2017 and now if I keep easy diet, eat regularly and no stress I have no problems. Every morning is more difficult than evenings. Now I still get PPI medicines for 2 weeks then we will see. It takes very long time to heal. Parma ham is a very tough kind of ham, I would not try it. Maybe better an easy ham instead. Do you eat fruits or vegetables?

My gastritis horror came back last Oct . Since Jan after flu it got really bad. In Jan I couldnt eat ANYTHING and lost 2 and 1/2 stone until my husband screamed ‘either you eat or you die’. I’ve been on Half milk and joghourt from Jan to mid May which I know is not ideal I know ... but it’s better than nothing. I’ve tried many many additional things as trial and error : most were a disaster. I learned that fruits are bad (which I love... I used to eat fruits especially exotic ones non-stop all day long before I got I’ll) . Porridge and other whole fibre were really bad. Sourdough bread was bad. Sadly each time I had soft boiled eggs = really bad (I used to eat many many eggs every day before getting ill because I thought eggs are good). Olive oil strangely seems very bad ... even the smallest amount (I used to eat lots and lots of olive oil and olives every day before I got I’ll again as I constantly read how healthy it is). Gluten free flower = disastrous.

Strangely a small amount of butter seems ok. Ive tv down the amount of milk and joghourt. I added successfully potatoes and vegetables like courgettes, asparagus, green beans. I can eat a clear broth made from a tiny amount of chicken plus lots of veg like carrots, parsnips, turnips, potatoes and a sprig of basil. I can drink tonic water strangely even though fizzy. I wake up at 8.00 and feel not bad at all.. Then I worry all morning what to eat for breakfast. I know porridge, cornflakes, rice crispies were bad, By 11.30 my stomach get worse and worse. In desperation I then have milk and joghourt. I don’t get worse but not better either. By 15.00 I have the extra thin Parma (I need protein) and clear broth with many vegetables). Then slowly the stomach is less and less upset. At 19.00 I can eat potato, asparagus, courgettes and tiny amount of butter plus tonic water. IN the e

Your symptoms are really more heavy than mine was ever. I can eat a lot of things what you can't. Each body is different. When I woke up I felt bad a lot of times and had nausea for a long long time. Since months I have no this at all. When I wake up I eat porridge with banana (nowadays peach without its skin or blueberry). It always helps my stomach. Then 1-2 hours I eat bread or toast, eggs no problem, easy ham with not heavy cheese no problem at all. Then I have dinner around 12 usually I eat rice every day, potatoe and pasta also good but rice is the best for my stomach. I eat chicken, fish or pork as well but no any spicy or tomatoe or onion because it makes me ill. Fruits. If I eat to empty stomach is always not the best but after meal is okay some kind: banana, apple (without skin), blueberry, peach (without skin) and watermellon. Did you have ever that you ate a fodd what was not good but then tried once again and no problem at all then? I had this experience with watermellon. I ate and felt horrible. Some days later I ate a small portion after dinner and no problem. Now I can eat without problem (but seeds I don't eat). Strange. It is such as stomach should study all the foods once again. :-) Very important to eat each 3-4 hours and evening I always eat well because if I don't well I have acid problems at night after. Otherwise I sleep fine. What was always very good for me: tea from camilla. Did you try it? It always helped me. Very often I drink at evening before sleep. Now much much better but it has symptoms yet sometimes. Especially when I have stress: I had to fly and I hate it. I ate very carefully before but symptoms came back for that day and pain for the next day. Or when I ate poppy seeds it gave me huge symtpoms for 4-5 days. I was talking many doctors, they told me that perhaps it takes 1-2 years to become healthy 100% (it means that after a time it will be easier such as now). I can eat more free but I want to eat tomato, pasta with tomato, drink a beer, frizzy drinks etc maybe a french fries...:-) Did you try icecream? I tried vanilia and had no problems (chocolates cause acid tro to avoid).
