Still getting blips after 22 weeks. Normal?

Posted , 8 users are following.

Been on cit now for 22 weeks. Been on 30mg for the last 6 weeks after never really feeling fully settled on 20mg. I've been feeling pretty good but yesterday I fell the grey cloud come over my and felt very anxious and panicky. Feel OK today, just that knot in the stomach / unsettled sensation. Should these blips have stopped by now or have I still got more to come?

because you increased to 30mg it will take time to settle as everytime you increase there is a lot of stuff happening at your nerve synapse. your serotonin production gets adjusted again in this time you may experience mood dips or anxiety as it regulates the levels of serotonin back to normal. I truly believe that you will settle soon and when I say seen I mean give it two months or so. I know it sounds a lot but its unfortunately all to do with patience. try to not increase more if you start having more blips it is just your nervous system adjusting. I find that people settle very well on 20 and 30mg. 40 is sometimes too much. just have patience. life is hard and there will always be ups and downs. try to do some self help by exercising eating healthy drinking less that all helps. good luck, you will get there even tho sometimes we have hopeless moments we need to wait a bit and the good time will come again.

Thank you Lala. I already feel a lot better on 30mg I guess I just thought I would be anxiety free by now. Hopefully in a few more weeks I will be feeling even better

This is interesting I have been on. Citalopram for nearly 18 weeks 10,20,and 30mg for the last 9 weeks. My anxiety and depression is improving i now get good and bad days and mentally my mind is clearer but I am still unable to feel emotion and happiness that I did before I became unwell in June last year

hey June, it very normal to feel a bit flat for some time. I would say the first time I was on citalopram I felt much better within 12 weeks in the same dose and then after about 6 months I was back to normal and even better free of anxiety and low mood I was enjoying my life so much all the flat mood was gone and I stayed on citakopram for 3 years and I was doing really well. then I thought I am completely cured and came off slowly and managed 7 months citalopram free only to crash again and I am on the medication again and planning to stay on them for as long as I can. the happiness will come back just stay on the same dose for much much longer it will all level out it just takes time. I worked in mental health field for few years and all I can tell you it's a long process but medication do help a lot when combined with self helf. you will be better and you will enjoy your life to the full if not even more.
