Still getting "caught" when I bend over to tie my shoes or feed the dog!

Hi Hippies,

It's been 8 months since my anterior THP - and I am so cross with how I feel. So much for the "everybody gets a THP, it's NOTHING" ! After a lot of post op infection and4 months of drugs and IV's to fix that, and I am STILL getting stuck, or caught with awful pain when I bend over to pat the wonder dog, or tie laces or pick a weed out of the garden. I have to very slowly return to upright - and it hurts like crazy the whole way up.

Had a gallium, MRI and CT - can't see anything - but maybe (?) its soas tendon that needs releasing - but my confidence is shaken. I have aged 100 years since this op, I would be really scared about another surgery for a  'release' .. any ideas?

Thanks team :-)

(PS I'm in Sydney)

Hi,  I had surgery 9months ago I never had any complications but I still can't tie my shoes,  put on my socks,  or really bend over.  I'm not sure if I should try and bend over like an exercise or leave things be, I don't want to cause more damage.  The other thing I have a real fear of falling,  I don't seem stable enough.   I use a cane.  Let me know how you are doing.   Lois

Hey Prue.  I had my Full Hip Replacment May last year but it was very painful from the very first day,I’m in Melb and I was a  private patient so I was told the surgeon was one of the best, but the whole time the pain was so bad, more like the nerves were crunched up so the pain was almost non stop,I’d be in the car and I found it so painful to just sit ther, like the nerves were pulling, and then getting out of the car and I tried to walk I just couldn’t,until I stood still for a while and then I’d hobble,I went back to the surgeon and told him I’d wake up from sleep in tears but he didn’t want to know about it.A few weeks ago my hip dislocated and I sent by ambulance to a public hospital the hip was put back in place,I haven’t been pain free like this since this trouble began,I know there’s a much greater chance it can dislocate again but I’m actually enjoying life again. My doctor said it may be a couple of things but I believe he nailed it when he told me there is something like gladwrap that is over the hip,if this is accidentally pushed into the hip durning the op then the pain would be similar to what I experienced.Dont give up,go to another specialist,it may be just time it needs for u to feel better.I hope u find the peace I have after so long.
