Still raw

I have been using dermovate now for the past 4 weeks, but still have a raw, stinging feeling. Should I have some relief by now? I also use emulsifying ointment along with dermal to wash.

Any other advice gratefully received, feel this is never ending.

My doctor, a vulva specialist, said do not use any product to wash with just warm water.  I have not tried the baking soda but I believe that it helps some people. My doctor also said to not use bleach on anything that would touch my body there.  She also said no fabric softeners or washing product for clothes that has perfumes or additives in it.  She believes those things aggravate our problems.  She said wear white, loose underwear or not any at all when at home and can do that.  I use the Clobetsol and it does help my flares get better.  I use coconut oil now to help the irritation of the skin.  I try to eat gluten free and lactose free milk, low sugar, so that means you eat mostly vegetables and fruits.  I am finding new gluten free grains and such to eat.   Chex has a gluten free oatmeal now.  I think I am just trying to find what works best for me and you need to learn more from sites like this or your health professionals to find what helps you.  Good luck on getting some relief soon.

I am 69 years old, had my uterus and ovaries removed 8 years ago and I am biopsy diagnosed with LS two years ago, so my causes and condition may be different than yours.  I am in Houston and I go to a doctor who is a vulva specialist, and a gyn.  She told to use nothing to wash - just warm water.  She also told me to quit using clothes washing products with dyes, perfumes and bleach. Also not to use fabric softners and only wear white cotton panties.  She thinks these environmental factors aggravate the LS.  She has me on Clobetasol  and then use Coconut oil to protect the skin.  There are other good things like the oil, but you need something like that to prevent itching, dryness, burning etc.  She does not think the food problems are important, but I am off gluten and regular milk for other reasons.  My flares are calmed by Clob in just a couple of days, so you need to find a better medicine that will help you.  You need to try things until you get relief that works for you.  Good luck on getting better.

Your history is very much like mine - uterus and ovaries removed and biopsy to diagnose LS.  I'm also gluten sensitive.  Can't handle milk but still can eat a small quatity of a good quality yoghurt.  No alcohol, no sugar.  No caffeine.  Though this was due to other health issues, I think that it also helps with LS.

At present I need to use very little of the Glob.
