Stomach/back issues

Good morning

This is going to be a little long so please be patient 😃

So my issues started last year in June, so for the past 8 months i have been having issues on and off but more on than off. The general feelings that i get are bloating, no energy, point tenderness on my stomach that can radiate from left to right, middle to lower abdomen and also into my back, sometimes my upper back between my shoulder blades to lower back. My ribs can sometimes feel tender and uncomfortable and like i say, my abdomen in general can feel tender in certain spots. This isnt a pain as such but more like a dull ache, im aware of it if i press on my stomach. I often worry and stress myself out and then i feel like it gets worse but i have this constant panic that the doctors may have missed something and that its some thing worse than it is. Over the past year i have had blood tests, a chest x ray, an abdominal ultrasound, an ECG, a pelvic ultrasound, everything is coming back clear. My doctor said that i could be suffering with health anxiety and also IBS. Do the symptoms listed below sound like IBS and should i just relax because maybe i do have anxiety and that could in fact be having a knock on effect to my body in general.

Stomach point tenderness

gas

occasional constipation

rib cage discomfort

neck tension

back ache

bloating

lethargic

lack of energy

stress

health worries

Thank you 😃

It can be some stomach infection. But can also be the result of your lifestyle you might be having since many years. So better start with changing the life style pattern. Healthy stomach must need the following to heal:

    1. Good and regular sleep and consistent timings.
    2. Exercises ( 10 mins per day is enough to start with ). This will also help in breaking the worry and depression cycle.
    3. Morning walk ( 20 mins)
    4. Checking your diet for best nutrition. Check internet for diets best for energy and health. Vegetables, seeds, oils etc.
    5. Try staying away especially from cigarettes, wine, junk food, bread and bakery products or food with zero nutrition.
    6. Check your sitting postures if your work is sedentary. Take pause in between for 2 min of exercise and body movements.

All of the above except constipation.

Rib cage discomfort: Is the sensation like a tight belt? Have you fallen? Do you get burning in your back?

Check your diet. Sugar is a major culprit. Also fruit especially the berries= fructose. Bananas are OK.

Unfortunately IBS is a one size fits all diagnosis. Have you lost weight? How old are you?

Im not always constipated but sometimes i can go a couple of days without going and then i can go everyday for a few days. I have lost weight but nothing major, i dont know if thats a symtpom or more of just being busy and more active as i have a 3 year old who keeps me busy. I am 34 soon to be 35.

The rib discomfort is odd yes, its like theyre tight and just uncomfortable at times. I get burning aching back and sometimes my skin feels itchy. My back ache radiates from lower to middle and then between shoulder blades, ive been to a chiro and a physio and theyve said im tight and tense so i put that down to that as my job is a desk job and my posture isnt always great. Its a very odd feeling, the only tests i havent had have been a stool sample, a colonoscopy and the one with the tube down your throat. Have you had any tests?

I've had a number of blood tests all telling me what I haven't got! Nothing else. My doctor doesn't know what to make of it and I refuse to go for invasive tests. I am eighty years of age and I've had this for six years. If it was cancer it would have killed me by now and I'm not going to spend valuable time waiting for, going to appointments then waiting for results and all the stress involved. I'd rather stay home!!!!!!

I have it would seem, two problems, being bloody minded not being one of them! Lol! A reaction to statins and gradual weight loss over the years and a bad fall when the digestive problems began. I used to be able eat anything except walnuts and suffered indigestion for years, now I have this, whatever this is, no indigestion and everything goes when I lie down. Bizarre or what?

You've not commented on the foods I mentioned but you need to take a serious look at it, especially sugar and reduce the salt.

      Hope that is some help.

    Hello Kileen-

I am having the exact symptoms that you are. I have worried myself sick over the last few months that there was something sinister going on. I had xrays, an abdominal ultrasound, and finally just had an MRI done last week. They found nothing. It looks like IBS and gastritis have struck again. Definitely a miserable existence this can bring on, and the symptoms change all the time, which is perplexing, frightening, and frustrating. Hope you feel better soon.

Tell me about it, its so frustrating. ive just requested a stool sample so will see if anything comes back from that. Im not in pain though are you? its more just discomfort and at times feel itchy, do you ever feel itchy?

Excuciating pain? No. Diffuse abdominal discomfort? Yes.

No generalized itchiness here. I suppose I get itchy in different spots from time to time. I did have a rash a couple weeks ago, but Im pretty sure it was a reaction to a new sweater I bought.
