Stomach pain after endoscopy

Hi,
Please I need your help!
Two months ago I was tested positive for H. Pylori however I have never experienced any pain or stomach discomfort in my life. My doctor (I am from the easter european country) insisted that I do an endoscopy. I was convinced that it is very safe procedure and I agreed. However the same day after the upper endoscopy was performed I started to experience stomach burning, pain and heartburn/chest pain. So bad that I had to go to emergency. Endoscopy showed a chronic gastritis and duodenitis. However my GI doctor did not think I need antibiotics since the gastritis was mild. I was taking PPI for 3-4 weeks but my symptoms were getting worse with no imrpovement, stomach pain was getting stabby and unbearable and it started to hurt a lot on the right side under ribs. It also feels like something is swallen under right ribs and makes popping sound (ultrasound did not show anything). After PPI were not helping much I was put on Sucralfate (also called Carafate) and it helped a bit. Now it is been 2 months, I am back in Canada where I am residing permanently and doctors here have no idea what is going on. They sent me to redo the H.Pylori test and another theory they have is a bile reflux. I am really scared because for over 2 months I have not had a day without pain even on the better days, I eat very special diet and I lost some weight because I could not eat enough and underweight. I saw 3 GI doctors (one in Russia and 2 in Canada) and they all say that they have never seen a case like me... to get problems after endoscopy... so I can not get a certain diagnose from them. I am wondering if anyone had similar problem or have any idea about it... not sure what to do anymore and where to get any help

I had endoscopy last Tuesday. I didn't feel any pain until 2 days after. I woke up in the middle of the night with a very sharp pain like something was strangling my chest. It was so painful, I took water and went back to sleep. I had loss of appetite and discomfort after eating afterwards. Last night, I had an emergency and scans and test and radiography was done... it shows nothing. I'm still in the hospital. Doctor is not sure what the issue is. He wants to do stool test, bla bla bla... I've been given a lot of pain killers and I can't really feel the pain . But m scared it would come again... and reading this thread of the pain lasting for months is really scary.. any suggestion? We have been charged heavily at the hospital and don't see the need to stay any longer here... please advice

Been there, its more common than realised after such a procedure. Its seems to exacerbate most stomach/esophagus problems. Its not surprising when you look at the nature of the equipment and how SOME professionals use it Your symptoms are again really common, again the pain under the R/H/S rib is common and to date no-one has posted an official medical reason. I've had the same symptoms as you for around 30 years, these are now compounded by a HH. I used to take PPIs or H2s for around the 12 months period and it would calm down. Now I'm on them all the time. Don't worry, remember PPIs take time, certainly not the 4-8 weeks as we are all told. If you read the posts on here you'll find 6-12 months is the norm. Unless you have a problem with PPIs (some work better for some people and a different type for others) they have been proven to work the best. And as for the 3 doctors you've seen well what the hell can I say. Its common, no, very common. I've had it twice from the procedure out of 4-5 and many others have on here also. Good luck but don't worry I'd bet money in 6 months you'll be fine after the PPIs or other drugs have worked. It took me 3 month from the procedure to start to eat a tad better and around 1 year to eat normal each time.

I have my endoscopy on Thursday and I'm freaking out! I just know that I will either perforate and die on the table or have cancer that needs further operation. Did your pain subside?Just wondering how soon after an endoscopy you would know if you were perforated? So pain can be common? How do you know if it's serious or not? Hope everything went well!

WOW, calm down here, the chances of you getting 'perforated' so to speak is incredibly low. Look at it this way, if you go to the hospital with dirt in a cut does it hurt when they wash it out??? Yes of course, if you have got some form of inflammation and they catch it then later it may inflame it that bit more but I've had a few now and yes I've had one bad experience but this could have been down to the problems of MY stomach. They cant investigate without a small amount of risk. Now, the thing to remember is this, if you do have something wrong with your stomach etc this procedure will find it, no ifs or buts. Just think of a nice beach with the sea lapping and it'll be over before you know. Good luck. but stop the panic for goodness sake.

It's been around 10 months since my Gastroscopy/Upper GI Endoscopy and I pretty much have been living with ongoing stomach pain every day when I eat that I never had before the procedure. I have tried many different forms of medication, I have completely overalled my diet to vegetables and lean meats and I have been using natural gut healing medications like Nutrition Care Gut Relief, Probiotics, Prebiotic fiber, and allergy/immune regulation medication but I am still a long way from being how I was before the upper endoscopy. I honestly really regret agreeing to it and I see it as a pointless procedure for people suffering from acid reflux especially at my age, because that is the only symptom that I had. I wish I knew what I knew now back then and had never had it along with the colonoscopy they were a waste of time, showed nothing and only caused damage especially only being 20 years old. I hope one day I can get better but at the moment I am just struggling with it and still trying to make my way with my career choices especially since I have to travel a lot and struggle to eat. I get really envious of people my age that can eat and drink anything without any issues and I just wish I was back to normal. Every doctor I have been to wants to put me on anti-depressants for a sore stomach, it's a bit of a joke too be honest I do not want them at all I just want my stomach pain to go away.

Here's my story. I ended up with esophagitis from taking a pill that burned my esophagus. I put myself on Omeprazole for 3 weeks and then came off when all felt better. I ended up with really bad Globus sensation and a feeling food didn't want to go down. I contacted my GI and they couldn't schedule me in for 2 months. I was living on about 400 calories a day and lost 17lbs in 3 weeks.
My only symptoms were in my esophagus at this point. No stomach pain, no nausea, no issues. Finally My Endoscopy date arrived. After waking up i felt pain in my stomach and assumed it was from the Biopsy. They found I had Bile Reflux that caused mild gastritis.
They sent me home and prescribed Ursodile. After two days I was getting pain under my left rib, pain in my kidney area, and nauseated. I completely lost my appetite. I called the doctor and he said he didn't know and to take a Tylenol. What???
I continued to have left side pain and called the Doctor again. They said it could be the Bile medication and to stop for a few days. I have stopped the meds and my appetite came back but still having dull pains and sharp pains under my left ribs and back and feel awful.
I never had pain like this until the stupid Endoscopy.
What is going on!!!
