Hi there. I was prescribed Bisoprolol 1.25mg for blood pressure but now among other things it has lowered my heart rate to the 50s. I cut it in half for more than a week but still no change in my heart rate. I am Planning  to go see my GP this week. I am also planning to miss today half dose has anyone missed a dose or do you think I should take the medication until I see my Gp. I am new to this group forgive my long text

Most of the time I don't feel anything at all but when I lie down or when I think consciously  about them they feel like a missed beat or a thump in my chest.

They are a nuisance but the cardiologist says they are not worriesome. I just get on with things and keep up my sport.

No idea, ectopics are fairly common , it's only when they increase in frequency they become a nuisance. The causes are unclear.

Does anyone know the difference between Metropolol and Bisoprolol? I take 25 mg of Metropolol at night and no problem.  This is half the dose prescribed.  If I take the same in the morning as I was supposed to it made me v tired. Currently AF free and doing cartwheels yeah!!!!  I feel so good.

Dr Google says they are pretty much the same thing with subtle differences, both are selective beta blockers that block ß1 adrenergic receptors, the clue is in the "olol" part of the name. Metropolol was first made in 69, Bisoprolol in 76.

Bisoprolol has a higher degree of ß1-selectivity than Metropolol whatever that means, I am guessing it means Bisprolol is more precise in blocking just the receptors you want blocked to protect the heart, a smaller hammer than Metropolol.

Thank you Peter I will ask the cardiologist at my next appointment why I am on one rather than the other.
