Strange feelings

I cant shake this feeling and it's horrible I don't know if its anxiety or depression it's so hard to explain but it definitely makes my anxiety worse.

How can I explain it.

It's not like everything doesn't seem real but everything seems different like my emotions are all wrong. I find it so hard to explain but it makes me feel like everything is just wierd!

My emotions seem unusual And like my emotions are too strong or I'm going crazy and everything is just unusual x it honestly makes me feel like I'm going mad because I cant explain it I cant research it to find out what it is x

It scares the life out of me tbh

its not dissociation or derealization as I looked into that and it doesn't feel like that at all

    Hi again Potatoghost

I don’t think it matters what it is - whatever you’re feeling is purely a side effect of anxiety. To try and work out what it is or analyze it is pointless. Its caused by anxiety.

If you had a cold you wouldn’t worry about having a runny nose, you’d just accept its a side effect of the cold. Same for this feeling. If you found out what it is there’s nothing you can do anyway as it’ll disappear as anxiety does.

I think it might be sensitized nerves. When you have anxiety your body becomes super sensitive because your nerve endings are raw and all too ready to fire off at any little provocation - its prepared your body for fight or flight. Sound can seem louder, sights odd, sometimes the world looks grey, or even the sunshine can seem too bright. You might cry too easy too, and of course feel depressed at everything.

The body becomes sensitized when we have anxiety so its on constant alert which heightens all our senses - as we recover this process reverses so the body returns to its normal desensitized state.

Its quite normal with anxiety and most definitely just a side effect.

Maybe think of it as super powers lol …… (but it doesn't include flying) xxxxx

katecoggs thank you so much it's such a relief to know it's just a side effect of anxiety that really does put my mind at rest! thank you. it's just a really scary feeling that makes my anxiety worse so thank you for your reassurance x

I'm definitely crying a lot more than usual from feeling so rubbish all the time

everything else you described is pretty spot on too!

I just want to get better now as it's becoming a 24/7 struggle x

      Hi potatoghost,

Forget schizophrenia, listen to Katecogs 😊

Really!!! 😱. I can assure you 500 million % its most definitely not schizophrenia. It is absoultely anxiety all the way. This is written in a book by a well known Doctor. Schizophrenia is an entirely different thing altogether and you wouldn't be talking on this forum if you were.

Lots of side effects can be scary, and even more so if you don’t know what it is.

Yes crying is so common with anxiety - I cried bucketfuls when I wasn’t well - at work, at home, at the Doctors, walking along a busy road once and even on the cat at times. Its good to cry as it releases built up adrenaline.

It'll take a while for the meds to soothe those sensitised nerves - but they'll return to normal.
