Having a strange sensation at the moment, I get a feeling that appears to come from my stomach and travels up to my head it feels like I’m going to pass out and my heart beats faster. It only happens for a couple of seconds then I feel really cold afterwards, it’s really frightening. x

Sometimes I feel more like blood rushing to my feet , I wonder if that is my pressure dropping . Who the hell knows but next Monday I move on to my 3 rd cardio Dr . Her name is Mecca Goldberg and when I was looking up perimenopausal symptoms and I'm fighting I found an article written by her and I think self magazine. It turns out she is here in New York City and I got an appointment with her. She primarily deals with women who have menopausal symptoms etc. I'm hoping she will be the answer to my issues or reassure me that my heart is fine etc.. I'm going to ask to see a Electrophysiologist. I believe if I cleared by him/ her I can focus on finding a good therapist to work out the OCD with my heart .

I have this happen to me too, it's awful. I feel as though all my blood is falling to my feet and I feel a bit dizzy, it only lasts a few seconds but its horrible. It does feel like your blood pressure suddenly dropping. I've had every test going and nobody can come up with an answer, I've just been told it's probably hormones. I was convinced it was my heart but that's perfectly ok. It's just horrible

    Hi Caroline,

What you are describing sounds like what my hot flashes feel like.  Keep in mind, I do not always sweat when they come on.  But the whole light-headed and heart speeding up, that is exactly what they feel like.  And they are scary as...(well, I won't say it here).  I also feel really cold afterwards.

Believe me, I know they are frightening.  Before all of this started, I thought a hot flash was just feeling a little hot, and then you went about your day.  Nobody told me about the dizziness and the feeling in your stomach, you know, like you are on a roller coaster.  It especially fun when you feel like you are going to pass out, say...at the grocery store, work, driving down the street.  Such good times...who knows when they will come on next?  It is like a horrifying Jack-in-the-Box.

Honey, I know they are scary, but I really believe that you are experiencing hot flashes...and they completely suck.

Hi Karen i always thought hot flashes made you sweat and turn bright red but reading your comments and other people’s it seems they can present in all different ways, I’m so fed up of all the different sensations. I found that book really interesting what did you think? x

Oh!  Did you finish it already?  I am about half way through and I am finding it really interesting as well.  It turns out that she is definitely more than just a pretty face, isn't she?  She seems to have mad respect for women and I really like that...really need that right now.  You would think with as far as they have come with women's medicine there would be more options for us, going through what we are going through.  Caroline, I have seen some ugliness in my life, but this is something else.  I honestly had no idea hormones could do this to a person.

    How are you feeling today?

Hi Karen, I’m not feeling that bad today, a bit apprehensive because I have loads of things coming up this weekend for Easter and I always get so anxious, I couldn’t put the book down keep going back and reading sections, I wish there were some kind of groups women could go to who were experiencing the same things so we could all talk about our problems, I don’t think we are taken seriously by doctors. Have you seen megs menopause w site it’s got some helpful info. Hope your ok and have a good Easter x

Hi, I’ve been having horrible anxiety & sore joints, muscles for about 6 weeks now. I believe I’m Menopausal at this point as my Estrogen is below 10. FSH is very high around 170-180.

I was given Divigel 1mg to apply on inside of thighs nightly and oral progesterone 100mg nightly. Also, xanax .25 up to 3 times daily as needed for Anxiety, 30 pills. I just got these 2 Days ago. I never thought I’d take HRT...but my life is out of control w these symptoms.

I have been fatigued, losing weight and the anxiety is making me feel like I’ve lost my mind.

Anyone else having severe anxiety while trying to figure out hormones?! I’m becoming increasingly anxious and not functioning.  Caffeine has been cut out for over a month now. I’m just a wreck and not functioning...my poor kids and husband. I’ve been posting her in menopause discussions and you ladies help so much.

I feel like I need to be committed some times!! I have NO tolerance to deal with anything!

Sorry your feeling so bad, the anxiety is the worse thing for me it totally takes over my whole life, i could cope with all the other things if I could just control the anxiety. I haven’t taken anything HRT even though my doctor offered it me, she also offered anti depressants but I’m not actually depressed just have these anxiety attacks. This forum has helped me so much just knowing other people are going through the same thing, hopefully in a few years time we can all look back on this and it just be a distant memory.  xx

Yep. Severe, uncontrollable anxiety was one of the first symptoms that cropped up for me. I've always had low-level anxiety, but this was a whole new level of constant adrenaline coursing through my veins, and a near inability to function.

I cut down my coffee intake to half-caff and cut out all caffeinated sodas, teas, etc.

      HUGE difference for me.

Also, since this is a life altering process and can literally take years with new/different symptoms popping up-I strongly urge you to talk to your family about what's going on.

You don't have to be super detailed in your explanation, but let them know it's a normal, natural, yet unpredictable process that you need them to help you through smile
