Strange sensation / tightness in chest and upper throat

I'm hoping for some help please..I have been feeling this strange sensation in the chest and lower throat. It's a sensation which I can only describe as a heavy feeling (no pain) and a tickling cough sensation in the chest. This then moves upwards to the lower throat area and makes it as though it is becoming tight. It makes me clear the throat and try to get the mucus out. I can feel a bit coming out but not much. The sensation makes me want to cough.I have been to doctor many times and he has listened to my chest and back. He's said that it's all clear. In the end he gave me antibiotics which I took for 7 days but it made no difference. He's also given me ventolin but it made no difference. I had chest x-ray and that showed clear. He referred me to ENT specialist who did a nasal endoscopy and that was clear. I have also done a barium swallow and that was also clear. However, I am still having this problem. I have also noticed that when I cough, I hear a grinding noise in my chest which sounds like friction. I've now been referred to a respiratory specialist and my appointment is next Friday. I'm really worried as I don't know what it can be. Has anyone else has this strange feeling? Can it be infection of the lower airway which has not cleared up? All this has been going on for 3 months now and I'm really worried and not sure what to do...Any help would be really appreciated. Thank you..

Hi all. I just read own-b posts and would like to say stress is a big factor in this. In my case i suffered the same. I took up mountain biking the n after a bit swimming. it helped a lot with the breathing. I have no tightness in the chest now. I went on holiday to the philpippines over xmas for a month and all the other symtons seemed to go away. I put it down to change in diet. Since i have been back and back on a kiwi diet the symptons have crept back a little. The difference in diet is at home more fruit and sugar. So I'm certain sugar is a big factor in this.so will be changing diet and if you smoke it doesent help either. Best of luck and take care

I just joined this group. I am happy to find your comments. I seem to have close to the same symptoms. Was scoped for stomach problems. All was ok. I am scheduled to see respiratory specialist in a couple of months. I am fine until I eat breakfast that's when the problems start eases a bit continues during the day. My voice gets very scratchy as well. I find myself yawning to get a deep breath.

Hi..... been reading your entries. I've had all of the tests you've had with all the same results. I've had no relief since last August. Mine also started out of the blue.
Haven't seen an update from you and wondering what has transpired as it might lend some light to my case. If you have a minute could you please let me know.

Hi Alex, same here. I've had it since last summer as well. Minimal relief.

Hi Michael! I haven't been on here in a while and I just got a notification from Martin's post (he used to post back when my issue first started). I did end up having a full tonsillectomy in February in hopes that it would resolve this issue but it did not. I do believe it is GI related and it has to do with diet and stress. When my issues began I was drinking a lot of wine (with obvious emotional instability) and eating crap. I was put on 3 different PPIs for reflux but nothing worked. I had an endoscopy, multiple nasal scopes, and then a full tonsillectomy. When I stopped worrying about what was going on and altered my diet (no wine, chocolate, and especially coffee) I noticed the symptoms lessened. I weaned myself off of the PPIs because they weren't working anyway- and started watching my diet and drinking a pro biotic with lemon and ginger tea every night before bed. It has no dissipated entirely but it is much better than it was originally.
