Strange sensation / tightness in chest and upper throat

I'm hoping for some help please..I have been feeling this strange sensation in the chest and lower throat. It's a sensation which I can only describe as a heavy feeling (no pain) and a tickling cough sensation in the chest. This then moves upwards to the lower throat area and makes it as though it is becoming tight. It makes me clear the throat and try to get the mucus out. I can feel a bit coming out but not much. The sensation makes me want to cough.I have been to doctor many times and he has listened to my chest and back. He's said that it's all clear. In the end he gave me antibiotics which I took for 7 days but it made no difference. He's also given me ventolin but it made no difference. I had chest x-ray and that showed clear. He referred me to ENT specialist who did a nasal endoscopy and that was clear. I have also done a barium swallow and that was also clear. However, I am still having this problem. I have also noticed that when I cough, I hear a grinding noise in my chest which sounds like friction. I've now been referred to a respiratory specialist and my appointment is next Friday. I'm really worried as I don't know what it can be. Has anyone else has this strange feeling? Can it be infection of the lower airway which has not cleared up? All this has been going on for 3 months now and I'm really worried and not sure what to do...Any help would be really appreciated. Thank you..

Not sure if you need help with this still or if anyone else needs help with this, but its just as everyone is saying. Its a Digestive issue. Most commonly GERD as everyone has said. I'm 22 years old and have been experiencing this within the last 2 years of my life. Most commonly happens after the consumption of food. I have seen the GI Specialist several times in the last year, I found out several things that were wrong with my Digestive System.
1. I have Mastocytic Enterocolitis, which is where Mast cells have infaltrated my Colon, and caused several issues. Bowel problems, abdomen pain, headaches, bad sinus problems, became allergic to pretty much every food, etc.
2. I had two ulcers, and more abbrasions in my stomach, which seemed to have been caused by the excessive ibuprofen I was taking for the headaches caused by the mast cells producing a histamine.
3. That I have a reflux problem from eating food, where I have tightness in my chest, up and down my throat mainly the right side of my throat and chest, and I have like a hiccup/mini vomit which is essentially the reflux.
4. The tests run on me were, a Colonoscopy, and an Upper Endosopy. I did however also have to have my bone marrow removed to make sure it was not cancereous, and am very grateful that it wasn't. And some other tests were run and what not.
5. I am currentlytaking several Medication, Ranitidine which is for the Reflux and Abdomen pain. It is also a Histamine Block(H2 Blocker) and it does come in an over the counter form called Zantac. Ranitidine is the best form of Zantac and I take 500mg a day, two 250mg Pills. I do not think you need this much, and you could start by trying Zantac located at your local pharmacy, or grocery store that carries over the counter drugs. I also am taking a NauseaTablet because anything I eat makes me nauseous, (do not remember the name am currently at my work office, sorry). And prescribed headache medication that won't affect the ulcers.
I really do hope some of this helps you and the other people on here out. I do suggest going to see your GI Specialist with sypmtoms like this or any other such as ones I have listed, because they may become very dangerous.

Thank you for your reply. Here's my update so far..
After I had my CT scan that was normal which I am so grateful for, the respiratory consultant refered me to do a Bronchoscopy. Before he referered me, he said that this is the last test as all the other test are all comming back normal and he don't think he'll find anything. He left this till last as it was an invasive test. So I had the Bronchoscopy and nothing out of the ordinary was seen except inflamation near my voicebox which he said could be acit related. I was then prescribed Nexium as I had already tried Lansaprozol and it didn't work. Last week I got a letter from the consultant saying that they had a positive result on the culture test and they had found Streptococcus pneumoniae. I am now due to see him about this.
This could possibly explain my symptoms.
I presume he'll prescribe antibiotics so have to wait a few mote days and see.

Did the treatment for Streptococcus pneumoniae solve the issue with the tightness sensation you had experienced?

Sorry in the delay in replying.
Further to my last post, I was on antibiotics for 2 weeks. Unfortunately this did not help which was very disapointing. I went back to see the consultant and he said that although Streptococcus pneumoniae was found, I was not showing any of the symptoms of pneumoniae. He said that this may have been picked up from the back of the throat as the camera was going down. He also said that this is a common bacteria found in many people in the back of the throat, who don't show symptoms. So it's back to the drawing board and I'm taking Nexium and Gaviscon. My symtoms have slightly improved but now and then I do still get the sensations.
I've been thinking to see a Gastro specialist as the next step..

Don't know if you have solved your initial problem. I had a chest tightness with a crunchy sound while breathing in. Mine was very frequent in the morning and it raised my blood pressure because of it. The doctors did a few scans and couldn't see anything wrong with me. But I kept telling them this was still an issue. Luckily enough I did a few research and was looking into this herb called Marshroot herb. ( Have a chance and google it). But in my solution I took 2 spoonful and soaked it into cold filtered water overnight. I did mine for a whole day and a half. On the day I drank it. 10-15mins later I was able to fully breath in and out without the crunch. Hope this helps you cause it definitely worked for me. Let me know how it goes., if its still an underlying problem

I have had a runny nose in gthe morning for about 2 to 3 years and now that is going I have the same problems Tight chest when going for a swim in the ocean and the throat trying to cough up mucus At the moment I find when i go for a bike ride after about 5 minutes of hard riding at the start my chest hurts and then goes away and I'm as good as gold and feel better after Ive finished. Im starting to think now that its connected to the mucus and im going to start changing my diet eg less bread if not cut it right out. see how I go. I also bought a nutri nija to blend up superfoods as well.

I to am having the same problems that started about three months ago when I was down with the flue. Now I can hardly swallow in the afternoon it's like a feeling my throat is closing up and all I'm getting is the runaround by doctors.
