Strange sensation / tightness in chest and upper throat

I'm hoping for some help please..I have been feeling this strange sensation in the chest and lower throat. It's a sensation which I can only describe as a heavy feeling (no pain) and a tickling cough sensation in the chest. This then moves upwards to the lower throat area and makes it as though it is becoming tight. It makes me clear the throat and try to get the mucus out. I can feel a bit coming out but not much. The sensation makes me want to cough.I have been to doctor many times and he has listened to my chest and back. He's said that it's all clear. In the end he gave me antibiotics which I took for 7 days but it made no difference. He's also given me ventolin but it made no difference. I had chest x-ray and that showed clear. He referred me to ENT specialist who did a nasal endoscopy and that was clear. I have also done a barium swallow and that was also clear. However, I am still having this problem. I have also noticed that when I cough, I hear a grinding noise in my chest which sounds like friction. I've now been referred to a respiratory specialist and my appointment is next Friday. I'm really worried as I don't know what it can be. Has anyone else has this strange feeling? Can it be infection of the lower airway which has not cleared up? All this has been going on for 3 months now and I'm really worried and not sure what to do...Any help would be really appreciated. Thank you..

I've had this for a while, I saw a naturopath and found out that I had leaky gut, and intestine infection - likely bc I additionally had a parasite (I'd recently taken in a stray cat that always tried to drink from my glass of water, so he must've done it when I wasn't looking and gave it to me bc I was taking him to a vet for intestinal issues that he had...), I wasn't digestesting things properly due to the leaky gut, and I was having lots of food allergies, and sensitivities (due to leaky gut) so I was unable to digest/have a lot of things e.g: meat was a problem. I was having histamine reactions in my body because of these issues, which was causing the tightness in my throat etc. that's why they could find nothing wrong, bc it was an allergic histamine reaction. One time my neck swelled up and I was priority 2 at ED, they gave me an anti-histamine drug which fixed the problem. Seems like a lot of you are reacting to the medications you're taking, and anti-biotics will damage the gut lining, making the situation worse. So it's like a digestive disorder to do with inflammation, because your intestines are inflamed, you can't absorb nutrients/digest food very well. You need to do an allergy hair test with your naturopath, which will come up with a lot of the foods etc. that are causing the histamine reactions. Drinking chamomile/peppermint tea helps, and I find certain types of deep heat cream can help, but only put a tiny bit on to test first. Massaging the neck and shoulders helps. I get a lot of stiffness in my neck and shoulders as well, which I think is related. I get sinus infections as well, and the dryness in my throat. I was told by my naturopath that I'm lacking a digestive enzyme in my saliva, which causes the dryness and effects digestion. I also had a hormonal imbalance, not sure if that contributed or not.

check out what a goiter is... i had the same symptoms and was asking my mother and she told me she had one. She had multiple thyroid tests (as have i) that all came back normal but apparently they use a different test to find it. It's also hereditary so if your family has/had thyroid issues check it out.

I After my gestroscope in Canada my doctor wrote a prescription for treatment of my H pylori. I was about to take the triple antibiotic therapy, I was visiting India and was referred to a Homeopathic doctor in Delhi. After couple of hours of discussion/questioning, the doctor confidentiality told me not take the antibiotics! At first I wasn’t convinced, but thought of testing his medication for sometime. The medicine worked quickly/miraculously! My sensation was getting very mild and was able to get sound sleep. In couple of days the sensation was gone!

Hi Rai.   I know its been a long time and im hoping that you will still receive this email.  But your symptoms seen the most relevant on the internet.  I have been having these issues for weeks.  I keep coughing up phlegm and where it feels hollow of phlegm, i feel a rasping deep down and cough till im sick.  if i've eaten then my throat feels tight and i have that sicky feeling and cough until im sick. ive lost two stone to date.  i had numerous blood tests , doctor appointments and they havens a clue.   Im just wondering after such a long time whether you finally had a solution.  Im convinced its my chest/lung or throat. and like you ive had the xray etc. but i haven't seen a ENT as yet

Hi everyone, I’m feeling better now that I know I’m not going through this alone. I want to share a little but off my story, I’m on vacation visiting family in Costa Rica. It has Been about 5 months that I have hasn’t that weird sensation like everyone else. It first started as bad feeling when I wake up in the morning but it got better as I carry on during the day. Now I started to have more difficulties because my through have a weird feeling on it and my breathing is not as good as it used to be. That freaks me out and it cause me mini panic attacks which makes me feel like I’m literary dying of something. I start to get dizzy and my heart starts to raise and I also get the chills. I have been to the doctor multiple times here and have done multiple blood test as well as X-ray of my lungs and a test to make sure my hearth is healthy. Everything turn out great which scared me even more because it made me wonder why I was feeling so bad when everything was coming out good. As I read all of your experiences seems like going to the doctor at this point is very costly and no answers. I’m planing to change my diet and up my physical activity to see if it help. God bless all of you and hope we can find a cure together

Look into silent reflux. I had to take GAVISCON ADVANCED 10ml 4 times a day for 6 wks. DO NOT EAT N DRINK FOR HALF HOUR AFTER TAKING. Cured me within 3 wks. Silent reflux is when gases in stomach affect your throat. The medicine seals your stomach to stop the gases and help your GLOBUS feeling of lump in thoat clear up.
