STRICTLY COME CRUTCHES

I'm still on crutches at 7 weeks not quite strong enough yet to walk properly.

I was wondering which way people find it easiest to use them.

do you use both crutches on the floor and walk through. Or

Do you use opposite crutch to leg and swing.

We all rehab at different rates. At three weeks post op my physio insisted I try to walk with one crutch. Amazingly I managed it. I always have both with me in case.

Both on the floor and walk as normally as possible, rocking the feet with toes pointed forward and shoulder, hip, knee and ankle all tracking well. Walk slow and steady. Try not to just swing the operated leg for speedier walk. This is what works for me. Hang in there!

in rehab we were tought to us sticks just like you would nordic walking poles which they call a three point system because both feet and one stick is always on the ground.  i found this worked very well for me as it ensured i put equal weight on both legs.  as soon as anybody tells me "... this and this will cause hip problems" i am like a super swot and trying REALLY hard to do it the right way.  so no swinging of legs or feet for me, i have enough on my plate with the knees, no need for more surgeries!!
