A few of us have been discussing ways to make our bones stronger without resorting to bisphosphonates.  This seems like a good place to carry on the conversation.

Some good info in this thread. Thanks for reposting Anhaga.

Not sure why this popped up on the list for this week but I miss some of the people on here. They were ground breakers in the topic of trying the natural route instead of the drugs.

I believe it is worthwhile to at least try the natural route before resorting to the drugs.

Thanks Anhaga for highlighting this again.

      Hi Kathleen,

It does seem that time has proved that the correct selection of exercise, vitamins and minerals will actually cure osteoporosis which is now being accepted as a condition rather than a disease. I have one prime example of this in my husband who hasn't looked back since his last permitted post and has a scan with 0% risk of fracture to prove that it works.

The main thing would be to ask your doctor for a vitamin D test to see if you are deficient and then you can supplement with D3 to bring levels back up.

The other thing for females to be aware of is there is a huge drop on estrogen during menopause so its very important to be aware of this and have hormone levels checked too.

Also if you are taking oral steroids, really important to seek your GPs advice to be sure your D levels and bone density is ok

Knowing results of these tests can go a long way to helping ourselves avoid loss in bone density.

Not least diet - also essential 😃

Hope everyone is doing ok with their bones.
