Success on Citalopram😁

I just wanted to feed back to you all how wonderful I am feeling week12 on citalopram 20 mg
This is my second time on this drug since 2013. With hindsight I should never really have come off it but stayed at a very low dose .
I spent hours..again ...researching the internet in the early stages. This time it took 6 weeks until I started to feel better. It had taken only 2 the first time
Yes I had all the side effects and felt much much worse whilst my brain waited to rewire itself in those initial weeks
It may not be the drug for everyone but it's worked wonders for me
So I just wanted to comfort and give empathy to those of you out there who are still on their journey
My path is now much straighter
Good luck all

Hi Gillian
thank you for all your sharing and everyone else on here
I started back on Celexa for 2nd time after 2 years off.
So this time I started in beginning of June this year , had to start low does do to being very sensitive to meds
so my first does was 10 MG for 10 days then 15 MG for 8 days after that 20 MG for 4 weeks hopping it would work for me again being that I was on that same does 2 years back . But after 4 week I got worse on it , so Gp put me up on 30 MG . I have been on this does now for 7 weeks tomorrow and still going though lots of side effects , like anxiety attacKS very high and for almost all day , hot chest , shaking , dry mouth and so on . So today my husband seeing me like this thinks I need to go down a bit like 25 MG . He thinks the 30mg did what it supports to do but is to high for me now . Do u think its wise to do so , being that in the last few day it has given me very high strung anxiety and much more . I do have lorazapam 0.5 for anxiety attacks but they only help so long . Also first time today it woke me up @ 5 am what it never done before in the 7 weeks on the 30 MG . Please give me ur input or someone on here that has gone though something similar like me . Sorry for this long letter , but scared of not coming out on this Celexa this time when it helped me the first time 2 years ago .
sorry forgot to inform you never been depressed in my life and anxiety was first then the depression came after being sick for over 1 year or longer because Dr could not find what was wrong with me . In that time being home losing wait and letting my job go the anxiety came and not much longer the depression.
So I got this year sick again and in that time of being sick the anxiety came and also depression. I better stop this letter now , sorry for any miss spell and for it being sooooòo long of a letter
looking forward to any replies
thank you

Itās a great drug but it does take time and you will feel worse before you get better
Am also inclined to think your GP does not know as much or have the experience there is on this forum
Obviously they have advised what they think fit but you have to have been through thus to understand it.
It is usual to feel much worse especially in the mornings fir some while until the drugs kick in
Itās a chemically accepted balance thing that you are often not warned about
You were hoping for results too quickly
I did the same. It was much quicker 4-6 weeks the first time
I was a good 12 weeks of anxt Ā and at times despair before I felt the light come on second time round
I almost gave up
But I got there
Itās very very hard but I think u shud have stuck it out at 20mg andgiven it A fair trialĀ

I totally agree with Gillian ! I think you're GP has given you poor advice and moved you up far too quickly through the doses. Your body hasn't had time to adjust to one dose before moving up again - it doesn't know where it is.
I was going through severe side effects for 6 months , nausea, and horrendous insomnia. Personally, I would try and get back to 20mg and stick it out - esp if it worked so well for you in the past.

Glad you agree
Itās absolutely true babysmoo
I have the article on why Citalopram takes so long to kick in but I havenāt worked out how to repost it hereĀ
Babysmoo you would find it helpful
I was thinking in the night. ... as you do! That it may be much further back in this thread I posted for someone elseĀ

i have been exactly where you are as i suspect have many others
i have written the same script
what you are experiencing is the post fluctuations of the drug changes you have made
You need to get down to and
stay strong on 20 mg
you will wake up and see the light ,Trust me
you will get better
you just have to let your body go through it
look back at my original post and return for more support from this forum as you need it

your on day 6 0f 25mg yes ?
you were on 30 mg
what about this... stick on 25 mg for two weeks or even a month if you feel your very sensitive
then try 22.5 mg for two weeks
They can be split using a pill cutter
then 20 mg and stay there
if you want to go straight to 20 mg from 25mg thats AOK
i have a medical training so am a bit precise about these things

Hi Gillian 176
yes I am on 25 MG today is day 8
I will stay on them as u explain for a month being that I am so sensitive to meds of all kind
then I will go down to 22.5mg for 2 weeks
and then after that down to 20 MG and stay there
pray by doing this that I will not start having side effects again
They are so ruff to go through
Thank you for your time and also showing me how to ween myself down to 20mg were I was over 2 years ago
I will be staying on the 20 MG Celexa for some time , this was the worse time I ever had on going on them , thank you
I feel good about following what u are recommending being that u have a medical training and a bit precise about it .
that's very important for me do to many Dr are now the days not š¦
Have a blessed day babsyboo

you will get relief from the side effects but then the withdrawals kick in.so its a no win situation at times.remember every ones reacts different.but from the looks of it you may well be one of the unlucky ones that experiences all kinds of yuck.

everyone reacts differently i suppose but but but
every change however tiny in this drug wether it be up or down causes significant changes
when i came off it was by 2.5mg a time every two weeks
i posted a suggestion further back
i think you just have to stick with this
get down to 20mg and stay there
You may even want to do 22.5mg for two weeks
then 20mg
trust us
weve been there
you will be ok at the end if the day but i feel your mistake was being told to increase initially
now your having to suffer the downside
much empathy to you
i nearly increased myself the second time i felt so bad but it was just the 20mg settling down
that took 12 weeks ....
i knew deep down i wud be ok if i stuck it out

I upped my dose to 20mg back on august 6. Before that I had been taking 10mg but not regularly maybe twice a week. I started having anxiety return and it got pretty bad again. So I went back to the doc and she told me to up the dose and take it everyday. I had bad side effects and those have mainly subsided and I had a week or two where I felt great but now im feeling a little anxious again and just a little down. Do you think its just the change and 20mg still settling?

Thanks! I guess knowing how long it takes your anxiety to build up it will probably take just as long to settle. The hardest part for me is worrying about silly things that shouldnt matter and then when you go a while without thinking about them and then all of a sudden your brain reminds you"hey you havent thought about this" and then bam youre thinking about it again and then get anxious. Hopefully those silly thoughts will slow down and then eventually stop over time.

How does it get completely different when I come off the Celexa ????

crying spells are all part of anxiety .the crying has nothing to do with the celexa.for all you know your crying spells might get worst.if you where recover you would not be having crying spells.seems to me that your crying is your big issue here.
