SUDD Symptomatic Uncomplicated Diverticular Disease

Posted , 5 users are following.

I am beginning to wonder if I have SUDD as I don't spike a fever, I have long term lower left quadrant pain, my WBC has been reasonable and all the symptoms of IBS. One surgeon has said I have had diverticulitis several times stating thickening of my sigmoid colon and another surgeon has said I show no signs of diverticulitis. I wish someone will finally diagnose me correctly. My research is pointing towards SUDD. Does anyone else have SUDD aka Symptomatic Uncomplicated Diverticular Disease?

I also keep a food journal but nothing remarkable shows.  However these last few days working on the assumption of SUDD I have greatly increased my fibre by eating oatbran and kefir and eating high fibre wraps.  I have also increased the probiotics. This has helped the diarrhea so I think I may be on the right track. Will talk to dr tomorrow to see if he will order the stool test. Will keep you posted

What is the best probiotics to take? I had my stools tested yesterday for SUDD, IBS, Candida in gut and perisites.  and have a consult with GI in 2 weeks to go over everything and set up a colonoscopy. My diarrhea has slowed down but now just mashed potatoe form. Groase I know but it is what it is for all of us with this DD. And do not know what to eat or my triggers cuz of the constant stomach and back discomfort , even after doing liquids diet. So any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you 🙏 Rifaximin? Will have to check that out.

I poSted when I returned Fromm my appointment but don’t see it here.

Myndoctor agrees that it is probably SUDD but would not do the faecal test or prescribe the xifaxin as he said there was not sufficient “good medical evidence” to support it.

he has referred me to a gastroenterologist but wait time is 4 to 6 months....  he said if I get worse he can refer me as an emergency

he also refused to test for Candida.

i am however feeling quite a bit better with the much increased fibre and probiotics, so for the moment will continue with that.

So that did not feel like a lot of help.  I will see how things go

Thanks for reporting. The doctors often say that there is not enough data for rifaximin/xifaxin.  There is randomized data that says it works. Since you are getting better you don’t need it. However, for others with sudd who have pain etc and not getting better, ask the docs about it. Ask them to google it. It can help and is safe.
