Sudden ringing in my left ear along with a slight full feeling and pitch change

So about a week ago when going to sleep I noticed I had a constant ringing in my left ear, which I thought nothing of. It wasn't until the morning when the ringing hadn't gone that I started to worry. That was also when I noticed the fullness and slight hearing loss, so I instantly thought it was wax and tried a couple of days of ear drops to try and shift what ever was in there.
A week later and I'm still experiencing the same issues. I saw a doctor yesterday who informed me I had a slight external ear infection in the ear which he gave me drops for, as well as eustachian tube dysfunction. Apparently it was the eustachian tube dysfunction that was causing the ringing and fullness. At the time that made sense, as the ear just feels like I need to pop it, and it never pops when I hold my nose and try and blow, but today I was able to pop the left ear, though nothing changed.
Does popping the ear not give instant relief of ear ringing? It is really starting to worry me that I have some how caused permanent damage to my ear.

Have gone through ear irrigation, antibiotics etc.
Met with the ENT specialist, he found polyp in my left nostril and advised that polyp may be blocking the eustacian tube OR eustacian tube may still be infected... did allergy tests, found me allergic to bed mites, managing that allergy now and using Avamys nasal sprays to alleviate polyp..
Doctor did the CT scan and advised hearing test, need to go through that and due to meet him again in 10 days..
Feeling definitely better than before, but can't hear the voice properly on phone in my right ear. Hope that things will improve, but definately very concerned..

Yes, mine has improved, but I have been left with some permanent damage (mild to moderate).
Apparently, I had Sudden sensorineural hearing loss (SSHL) and wasn't diagnosed correctly (3 GP's & 1 ENT Specialist couldn't diagnose me correctly).
I was made aware of the underlying issue (SSHL) in my second apponitment with the ENT specialist (after the hearing test results), I have gone through the MRI after that, no neuroma, so I am finding solace in that.
I feel, I am getting better every day, even after nearly 3 months of this episode..
I am still having difficulties in hearing the conversation on phone with my right ear and permanent tinnitus, but learning to live with it.
I hope your's is not as complicated as mine. It may still be wothwhile to raise concerns regarding SSHL with your GP, and get the tuning fork test done. If possible, try and go to the specialist ASAP. If SSHL is diagnosed in time, steroids can be given and full hearing can be saved...
All the very best!
