Suddenly blurred vision in Left eye. No one knows the reason

Hi,

I am 30, male, computer programmer. I've never had any problem in my eyes before, but 13 days ago my left eye got blurred and then I started getting dizzy sometimes. I went to the GP and he said it could be conjunctivitis (I didn't think it was, because my eye wasn't red or sticking). I applied the eyewash he prescribed for 5 days, no improvements though.

Then I went to the eye hospital and they made a lot of exams (also with dilated pupil) and the doctor there said she couldn't find anything wrong in my eyes (My problem is in the left eye only) and then asked me to go back in 5 weeks time (24/08)

After these exams I started felling my vision getting better. But today it is more blurred than yesterday (less than in the first days though). I check this by looking in some objects at home, which are always in the same place,and see if I can read the text on them. Other test is to try to focus the computer screen with the right eye covered... I could see reasonable well yesterday, today it is worse, but still better than the first days.

After going to the eye hospital I went to the GP again, and he told me I should go to optician and maybe find a pair o glasses which would make me feel more comfortable.

I don't want to wear glasses before be sure what was the cause for that problem. By my experience in this periodo of 13 days my vision goes better some days and worse other days. Maybe (and hopefully) it can be reversible.

The symptoms I feel in my left eye are:

- Blurred vision (Some days better, some days worse).

- Sometimes it is itching;

- Sometimes if hurts a bit;

- Sometimes I feel like there is something inside it;

- Sometimes I have a feeling as the eyelid is a bit glued;

Something I tested yesterday was to see how light I have going through one eye and compare to the other.

During the day I could see things with more brightness in the right eye (the good one).

At night however, the left eye can capture much more light (still blurred though) as I almost thought I had infrared vision in my left eye...lol!!

All this is confusing for me...

I have high cholesterol (280) and I am over weight (Not hugely though). I also don't have a healthy diet.

I always have perfect vision and now I am scared as this symptoms could be an alert for any other serious problem I have and don't know yet.

P.S.: Sorry for my English, It's difficult to me to described the symptoms as my English is not so good.

Can any one help me please?

    Hi friends:

    I have been following a thread about retinal tears on this site, and thought I would check out what others are going through with other problems. I have nothing specific to say about your concerns about blurred vision (since my eyes are not blurred), except to express my general solidarity with  and understanding of the stresses you are all going through and the visceral fear you are all experiencing.I too am very very worried for the fututre of my eyes.

    Good luck to everyone.

      I'm in my late 30's and also work in the computer field. I don't have any health issues, but lately getting blurry vision in left eye which is so bothersome as I work closely on the computer and I see blurry round circle above my eye, I feel as if my eye is swollen or dirty so I rub it and the blurryness still don't go away. Today I went to see my GP he diagnosed me with a migraine, I told him I neither have a migraine nor a headache then I was referred to an optometrist she dilated my eyes but found everything normal. I'm so scared tomorrow I'm going to see an ophthalmologist and let's see her diagnosis.

      I was diagnosed with silent migraines.  like you, I explained that I was not experiencing migraine pain. I have had painful migraines in the past, so I was very confused by this diagnosis.  As it turns out, silent migraines have all the symptoms but the pain.  They will definitely effect your vision.  In my case, as time went on I developed other symptoms and I am now being treated for Multiple Sclerosis.  I am in remission, but I still have days where my eyesight is blurry or doubled. Most times only one eye is effected, usually my left.

      Reading these posts, I notice we all have issues on the left. I don't believe in coincidence, so I am curious why.

      Good luck Fayoub.

    HI it might be presbyopia. Hardening of lens as we get old. In moderworld we spend with computers, tablets, tv.... Quiet a lot of time.  In addition we take bad foods, so I do have same symptoms.  I have been given reading glasses to help the glare and cloudiness.  Sometimes I have clear vision where I can read with no issues and other time same cloudiness of vision. One doctor said use glasses and we will monitor progress as it might be the early stages of cataract.  Have to wait 6 more months to see what happens next.

      Mgd involves the oil glands on the rims of your eyes. They are responsible for one of the tear layers that covers your cornea. The tear layer is made up of 3 layers,mucus, water and lipid,if any of these layers is off it affects the clarity of your vision. My eye doctor never checked my lids,another doctor found the blocked glands,it can result in irritation or dry eye which can caus,hazyness,cloudy,blurred vision usually on and off. Another thing to have looked at is the vitreous fluid in your eye,look up post vitreous detachment,also can cause issues.
