Suddenly blurred vision in Left eye. No one knows the reason

Hi,

I am 30, male, computer programmer. I've never had any problem in my eyes before, but 13 days ago my left eye got blurred and then I started getting dizzy sometimes. I went to the GP and he said it could be conjunctivitis (I didn't think it was, because my eye wasn't red or sticking). I applied the eyewash he prescribed for 5 days, no improvements though.

Then I went to the eye hospital and they made a lot of exams (also with dilated pupil) and the doctor there said she couldn't find anything wrong in my eyes (My problem is in the left eye only) and then asked me to go back in 5 weeks time (24/08)

After these exams I started felling my vision getting better. But today it is more blurred than yesterday (less than in the first days though). I check this by looking in some objects at home, which are always in the same place,and see if I can read the text on them. Other test is to try to focus the computer screen with the right eye covered... I could see reasonable well yesterday, today it is worse, but still better than the first days.

After going to the eye hospital I went to the GP again, and he told me I should go to optician and maybe find a pair o glasses which would make me feel more comfortable.

I don't want to wear glasses before be sure what was the cause for that problem. By my experience in this periodo of 13 days my vision goes better some days and worse other days. Maybe (and hopefully) it can be reversible.

The symptoms I feel in my left eye are:

- Blurred vision (Some days better, some days worse).

- Sometimes it is itching;

- Sometimes if hurts a bit;

- Sometimes I feel like there is something inside it;

- Sometimes I have a feeling as the eyelid is a bit glued;

Something I tested yesterday was to see how light I have going through one eye and compare to the other.

During the day I could see things with more brightness in the right eye (the good one).

At night however, the left eye can capture much more light (still blurred though) as I almost thought I had infrared vision in my left eye...lol!!

All this is confusing for me...

I have high cholesterol (280) and I am over weight (Not hugely though). I also don't have a healthy diet.

I always have perfect vision and now I am scared as this symptoms could be an alert for any other serious problem I have and don't know yet.

P.S.: Sorry for my English, It's difficult to me to described the symptoms as my English is not so good.

Can any one help me please?

    When this happened to me I immediately took one asprin tablet and the blurred left eye vision became clear within minutes.  I believe it has something to do with blood pressure.  I typically have low to low normal pressure but thought it might have raised since I was dealing with a difficult work situation.  I think eye doctors specializing on the eye are looking for something wrong with the eye when it can be caused by circulation, blood pressure or blood sugar levels.

    I have had something similar for a couple of years now

    very annoying.. went for an eye test and explained my concerns but was told I still have 20/20 vision.. so it's not my eye sight..

    I more feel like my eye (right eye) is always a bit more closed than my left, it's even visible when comparing my eyes in the mirror.. I am constantly rubbing my eye trying to clear it as it feels there is gunk in there or something but there isn't..

    This gives me a slightly blurry (very slight) vision in my right eye, however it's more the annoyance that is bothering me, it feels as though that eye has only just woken up and hasn't fully adjusted yet..

    What should I do?

    I'm 32.. spend a lot of time on computer.. overweight.. bad diet.. common list for this discussion it would seem..

    Hi Guys,

    I'm having the exact issues as mentioned above

    The symptoms I feel in my left eye are:

    - Blurred vision (Some days better, some days worse).

    - Sometimes it is itching;

    - Sometimes if hurts a bit;

    - Sometimes I feel like there is something inside it;

    - Sometimes I have a feeling as the eyelid is a bit glued;

    Don't waste your money to make new prescription glasses as it's wont help on anything. I found a remedy after 2 weeks I having this problem. All you have to do is just do a master reset to your eye by circle your eye Clockwise about 30 rounds follow by Anti clockwise another 30 rounds. After that flip your eye 60 secs. I doing such exercise almost everyday my problem gradually reduce and now my left eye resume back to normal. or you can follow this youtube video practice its about the same as my method.

    hi, my name is Charles, I have been experiencing exactly the same symptoms you have to the T including the Lesser symptoms you were talking about sometimes a sore eye itchy things in it blurriness worse on some days not as bad as others oh, and it happened one morning when I woke up, just like that, went to an eyeglass doctor or whatever they are he said everything in my eye look perfect, I am a bird watcher I have fantastic farsighted vision, until after this. And my left eye was my strongest best eye. The doctor just said here here's a prescription that will make it more comfortable to see, glasses that is. It troubles me immensely I've not read your comments below from other people, have you found resolution to this and help? at least I am a diabetic number one, with fluctuating sugar lately real bad. Hope to hear from you thank you Charles

      Hi,you could have mgd. Please look it up,it affects vision and can caus dry eye symptoms. Many doctors dont check for this,it has to do with the many glands that run along the lids of each eye becoming blocked or the oil they produce for your eyes becomes poor quality. Please look it up,meibomian gland disfunction,eye. Also look up blepharitis, hope this helps. If you do go back to the doctor ask them to check specifically for this,took me 3 eye docs before i knew. Can caus blurred vision,irritation, etc

    Hi! I’m having a lot of similar problems with my right eye. It started around May of this year and has gotten worse. I’ve been to my eye doctor twice now. The second time he changed my lens ( I have glasses) on the right side. It only amplified the problem. I am at my wits end! My left eye is perfect with glasses. I find myself closing my right eye a lot and trying to see. It’s so blurry I can’t make out words or anything. Nothing is clear. I have dry eye and allergies so I’ve been using OTC allergy drops and artificial tears. Both of my eyes burn constantly. But in my opinion I don’t think it’s the dry eye causing this much blurryness. I’m so off balance and it feels like I’m losing my mind. I have a lot of pressure and pain around my eyes and in my forehead. I feel like I’m not seeing right at all. I have high blood pressure and I’m a diabetic. Both are in normal range. I see my GP every 3 months and have blood work done. I take Omega Red fish oil everyday and was taking it for over a year before my eye started this. I’m thankful I have Klonipin to take or I would have a nervous break down from this. I’m scared to death I’m going blind. If anyone still follows this thread, has anyone found relief/clear visit?

    Thank you to all who posted about tests that should be done to determine the cause. My problem is left eye vision going blurry within 15 minutes of using the computer. Have used the computer a LOT in my life as med. transcriptionist. The vision may stay blurry for hours. On days when I'm not using the computer, that left eye will see 20/20. Two optometrists, even though a pinpoint test showed that the vision could be corrected to 20/20, could not find a lens that would work for me only during those times that the left eye is blurred. I don't get it. An opthalmology exam revealed nothing other than my dry eyes (1.25 out of 10 on tear test). I take 3-4g omega 3's daily, 2 Tb ground flaxseed daily and over-the-counter drops to help with that. But I don't know if they've checked the meibomian glands, so maybe there's hope for me. This has been going on over two years and when it happens, it leaves my left eye vision blurry for hours, impairs my ability to read or drive. Doctors tend to want to give a diagnosis whether that is the correct diagnosis or not. They chalked it up to presbyopia. I don't believe it. My vision normalizes and only changes when using the computer or reading.
