Sudocrem

Posted , 6 users are following.

I had a posterior and perineum repair 4 weeks ago and have been feeling really well. I'm still having to wear a pad however the loss is now settled to a pinky/brown colour(sorry ladies!). My concern is that it's now quite watery and despite wearing a pad the area around my anus is feeling quite sore. My vagina is fine just just the anus area. I expect it's because the area is constantly warm and wet. Would a dab of Sudocrem be ok?

    Hi Gwen

When my anus is very, very sore from a hemmorroid, I use a dab of vaseline on the anus and it is very soothing. Makes sense because vaseline is soothing on a babies bum for rash, burning , chafing. Maybe try a dab or two and see how this works for you.

Your welcome and I am sure it will be soothing and helpful. It works for me on burning hemorroid. Let me know how you make out. I use a couple of good dabs.Sometimes the old fashion remedies that have been around for ages work the best.

Gwen, just want to make sure you know that vaseline will not take away any infection if you have an infection. But it will definitely have a good effect on chafing or redness caused like baby bums get. Just don't want you to think that vaseline will cure an infection. Hope you just have a sore, chafing redness and nothing more.

When you've had surgery gwen you do need to be careful about what you use. Sudocreme should be ok because a lot of mums have used it on babies bottoms. Vaseline tends to protect an area and stop it getting wet and it's not used in hospital in the UK anymore. It's only 4 weeks since your operation so it's early days so my advice would be to use the sudocreme and if you have a disposable glove use that to stop cross infection. Hope that helps. Take care and let us know how you get on.

Hi Matron, I don't think there is any infection there - I'm not sore or red around the Vaginal entrance or the vulva - just around the anus.  I'm sure it's because it's constantly warm and damp around there. Always had Sudocrem for my daughters when they had a sore botty!

By the way, how long does this loss tend to last post surgery? I'm so well in other respects this is the only niggle I have!

I understand now gwen so just use sudocreme without the glove! The loss you have usually lasts up to about 6 weeks and as long as it doesn't smell offensive it will be ok. You may find some of your stitches come out through the vagina as well but that's perfectly normal.

Sudocrem seems to have done the trick! Much better now and have finally been able to wear a pantyliner in the day instead of a pad! Happy days!

I'm pleased gwen and I was pretty confident that it would do the trick. Sudocrem is very good and perfectly safe. Take care.

I use a formulation of Aloe Vera crime (99%). It takes aay the heat from the area. I smear it on each sanitary pad, not too thickly. This is a natural substance. It works!

Thanks for that suggestion Rousselle. Since I have some Sudocrem at home I'll give that a go first - it always used to worked quickly when my daughters had a sore botty. If that doesn't do the trick I'll try Aloe Vere - thank you x

Oh interesting, thanks. I have anterior repair. Not sure what the perineum repair bit is as can't remember what my Specialist said just before or just after, about that bit. I feel well too. Sometimes aching in pelvic area still.
