suffering with labyrinthitis for 7 months now...

I am or should i say was a fit mum of for working full time in a hospital, dont drink or smoked in my life ,used to go to the gym ans fitness classes but 7 months ago i started getting dizzy mostly feeling it while at bed on the right side even with my eyes closed.

Felt nauseous and wanted to vomit i thought maybe i was pregnant. But we all know our bodies sometimes and had tests and were negative for pregmnancy.

Still went to work taken some painkillers thinking it will go. Then one day at work while on the phone i started a migraine and shaking almost fainted and had to go home. The lights and the computer would hurt my eyes morewhich triggered the migraines.

Have seen ENT and neurology after numerous trips to the GP who kept changing my medication as nothing worked.

They gave me betahistine and propranolol which i take and still no use.

At the same time started taking the contraceptive pill, cerazette which i just started thinking that it could be that.

Had hearing tests done aswell but i want to go for a scan as its getting more difficult to do the daily chores. but i dint know why they hadnt sentn me yet? or how come didnt my GP picked that it could be my pill?

I keep getting appointment to go and see ENT and i go.Have one due end of the month...

I read a few disscusions here but i am so confused...

And the more i worry about things the worse it gets...

can someone advise me please what to do?

    Hi Tina

Think I am a bit late with my reply but just came across the thread as just been told I have labyrinthitis.

Just to say my sister suffered with episodes of severe vertigo and also constant head and face pain/foggy head etc and was eventually (many years later!) diagnosed with Migraine Associated Vertigo - perhaps this is something for your doctor to consider? Know it took her a long time to get diagnosed as it is not well recognised.

    Good luck!

    HI Tina

I've just come across your post. I've had labrythintitus twice now and like you saw an ENT specialist. This year I also came across an food intolerance specialist, who suggested I cut out wheat, and come off the pill (which was cerazette) I did both for 4 months, and the laybrinthitus went completely.I'm still wheat free and had no symptoms. Last 2 months, I've gone back on the pill as in a relationship, and my sinuses have started to play up, and the hearing in my ear is dipping in and out. I'm going to switch pill as this seems too much of a coincendence to me.

    are you still suffering?

Hi Karen since having the epley manouvre the spinning has settled a lot.only get mild episodes of it now. However my balance is still not very good some of it I'm sure is due to thoracic surgery to my spinal cord which left me with foot drop and weak legs.do you think going wheat free has been a big help for you I'm a bit sceptical about things like that but worth a try.I'm on a very good support group on fb called dizzy vertigo it's run by Tammy Telford and is really good makes you feel your not alone

      HI Lynn

Glad to hear the Epley has helped. They also gave me excercises to re train the brain. Juggling was one off them. It does sound as though your surgery won't have helped. I'll have a look at the support group, much appreicated.

      take care
