Hi all, I had been sober for 17 months until my holiday in August last year, I tried just 1 drink & all fun times came back to me. Although I have since August controlled my drinking to maybe a glass or 2 every weekend more recently it is getting more & more regular & I can feel old habits creeping back in. I have made the decision to quit again but could do with some ideas of what to do when the cravings kick in :-)

Iff you havent been drinking that much, then the cravings should not be as bad.  Have you tried snacking instead? Or going on a detox diet?

No the cravings are no where near but I can feel signs I'm on a slippery slope back there & want to nip it before it starts. I'm on detox now :-)

I'm glad you're hanging in there paper. Ive neen thinking about you. I almost gave into temptation last night but so proud I talked myself out of it. Then hubby and I had an argument. Got upset. He did apologize as did I and promised to think before we speak. I'm not feeling well on days 7 and 8. Had a bout of diarrhea, nausea, fogginess, etc. But as I sat outside a pizza place wanting to get beer I talked myself out of it. Whew! I've been sleeping a lot but that's not unusual. Hope you're hanging in there! Blessings!

HI Caroline, Are you ok?? Just wondering after another week? Robin

Thanks for asking Robin, you are very kind and supportive on this forum. Fortunately I am 2 weeks sober today and have no desire to drink after my terrible 4 week binge followed by a very long withdrawal. I realise that the longer the binge, the longer the withdrawals. Plus it just gets worse with each binge and as you know I've had many relapses. I realise that there will come a time when I will crave a drink again but I have my naltrexone which I will take in the CORRECT way otherwise it's pointless. But thankfully at the moment the thought of alcohol repulses me.

I must say the diazepam helped as it has helped me get back into a normal sleep pattern. I am only taking it at night and realise I will have to wean myself of it soon so I don't get addicted. I am not 100 percent yet, still very tired all the time and no appetite but I'm eating lots of fruit, soup and drinking lots of water, plus necessary vitamins.

last Friday I managed to take my 16 year old son to his prom night, spent the afternoon took him to work on Saturday and Sunday I went with my family to see my dancing daughter in a dance show in Nottingham. So making progress daily.

I hope you and everyone else on the site a happy, safe, peaceful day...??
