Cathy..I know the feeling as had many flare ups...hate it. Waiting for surgeon to call me back about surgery. I would eat muffins, like blueberry, eggs, low or no fiber like corn flakes, English muffins , white, any white bread. Just Google "low fiber foods for diverticulitis". Good luck...this disease just sucks the life out of you.

Cathy.. bb muffins don't bother me..my doc said it's a myth not to eat nuts, popcorn, but my thought is everyone is different. If you're having several attacks a yr, that is too much. Not good to be on antibiotics so much, Cipro and Flagyl are horrible!

I eat mostly soft foods. Like pancakes, muffins and yogurt. I drink coffee. One cup with light milk but for two months after my attack I really was extremely careful. I did not eat salads at all and no raw veggies. My severe attack was in February and it took me two months to feel myself . I went to see a surgeon and he said fiber is so important so after two months I am now taking a fiber capsule 5 times a day and forcing myself to drink more water. I am finally hungry and eat most but veggies I make sure they are soft. No steak. I eat ground meat, chicken , fish. I try to avoid seeds, nuts and skins. Good luck. 🙏🙏??

Hello, regarding antibiotic treatment for diverticulitis I was prescribed Co-trimoxazole.

This worked and had minimal side effects but I've not seen it mentioned on this forum.

That's the one the DR gives me and it works Didn't feel any side effects

Interesting that you had good results from this antibiotic, too. Although, it would be great to think I won't need it again. Overly optimistic, I think!

However, after two months of mild to moderate pain every day I've had two days with just a feeling of tenderness in the left hand side, so there is hope. 🙂

Are you in the US? Probably prescribing is different there. The Cipro and Flagyl treatment sounds grim.

After  surgery last year (not for DD) I had to have a lot of different antibiotics, most of which made me feel very ill but when I had the diverticulitis attack in March the Co-trimoxazole seemed to have no side effects and was effective.
