The next meeting of the Surrey Support Group will take place on Tuesday, 12th April, with a guest speaker talking on the subject 'Mindfulness'.  If you live in Surrey or surrounding borders and would like to come along, you can be assured of a warm welcome from a very friendly group of people who understand the challenges of living with PMR and/or GCA.  For further details and to register, please send me a PM.

Ahhh, great subject!!!  I've been reading a LOT and doing meditations on mindfulness. It's very nice and helps tremendously, when I remember to do it!!! Makes one enjoy the small things very much!!!!!

    Enjoy!

Thanks Layne, I'm really looking forward to it.  I tried meditation at yoga some years ago - not easy, but I remember one occasion in particular when I sort of felt myself becoming completely weightless and 'out of it', for want of a better way of describing it!  It's good that you are doing it and finding it helpful....carry on enjoying the small things - most of us could do with appreciating the little things more!

      wink

i was shocked mindfulness can including meditating on so many things. I listened to a recording recently that said brushing your teeth.  Be mindful, think of it, the water, how it feels, ... Oh and eating, ha! Sometimes I'm so sick of the strict eating we must do right now and I'm sick of eating salads and greens...ha, ha, but I'm trying to be mindful and be greatful of the good nutrition in the foods and think of it and enjoy it while I'm eating verses thinking of all the things I need to be doing...ha, being in the moment.  It's kind of fun. wink Kind of... Ha.

The problem for me is that when I'm eating chocolate I'm 'mindful' that it's the dark variety which contains flavonoids so it's anti-inflammatory....and then I eat too much! lol

Yes, we're expecting yet more new members - an extension to the Hall is beckoning!   I'm so glad you're coming along to add your usual sparkle - it wouldn't be the same without you, and of course Gordy......not to mention the biscuits!

hi mrs o and sparklin carolk here just trying to keep in touch till all is sorted carolk

Hi Carolk - good to be in touch again so thank Heavens for other forums!  Not so sure they're able to sort out the problem on the NE forum from what I heard, and they might be considering starting one up on Facebook.  I'm not a member of that so will just stick to our other forums ftb.  Hope your ok, Carol.

There is already a PMR group on FB and one or two people have had some rather sarky responses from people with slightly way-out ideas. Not welcoming at all I gather...

I remember reading something along those lines a while ago - probably from you!wink   I think we've been spoilt with the 3 wonderful forums we've had up to now covering our conditions.  Perhaps there is another source where the NE could set up.  Perhaps there is another forum where the NE could set up - somewhere like talkhealthpartnership if you've come across it?

It was from me in terms of someone saying she'd been slapped down for saying something on a forum and I said I hoped it wasn't one I belonged to! that's how I heard about it - and then someone else said they'd had an unpleasant experience there.

There must be another message board host somewhere, besides FB which I don't think will fulfil our needs to be honest. You can't post long things very easily.

I suppose it would shut me up...

Yes, it is sad and it is being sorely missed - I especially feel sorry for GM, no doubt Mavis has been in touch with her as well.  I've passed the word to all those members who are also members of the Surrey group so that they are all aware.  Sorry to hear about the flare, Carol but glad it appears to be getting under control - the wiles of PMR!
