Swelling after hydrocelectomy

Just wondering if anyone has had the same experience I have had following a hydrocelectomy. I am now 10 weeks post op and still have some swelling (egg size) I saw my doc about 5 weeks after surgery and he didnt seem concerned and doesnt want to see me again till December. I have read it can take 3-6 months for all swelling to subside but I was just curiouse if anyone has had the same problem as me as I am still kind of nervous.

Hi Guys,
Just an update from me, I decided to have the surgery which I had today. All supposedly went well and I'm glad that I went through with it. Did you not get dissolving stitches jekyl? I have not had a good look at the swelling yet as the area is obviously still very sore, however, I have noticed already that there is a significant decrease in size and now I'm just hoping the stretch of my scrotum will mostly fix itself as I do not look forward to having saggy balls. Did any of you find that this was achieved more efficiently wearing two pairs of tight underwear? I will make a final update in 4 weeks all things going well. Thanks again for your advise and good luck with your recoveries.

ice, ice and more ice I wore the support they gave me for a good 2 weeks and then wore tight whiteys for another month after. it MAY get bigger at some point so dont freak out I would also avoid any strenuous activity for a good month. I stayed in bed for the first 2 weeks and only went back to the gym with light activity after a month.

I used the nut support for about 5 days (I had 2 so I could change them)... but mostly I was focusing on moving the drain tube... taking it out at about day 5. From the time I left the recovery room, I sported 2 pairs of sports briefs doubled up - not tighty whities. And wore those about 4 weeks. Back to boxers now 5/6 weeks out. For at least the first week.. I didn't move around much at all... got a p**s bottle so didn't have to walk around a lot (unnecessarily). Don't think the sports briefs helped with keeping the balls from not sagging after the stitches dissolved, but they did accomplish my goal of not causing myself accidental "hits" or things moving around causing me lots of pain (unneeded kicks to the balls if you will). Good luck in recovery!

Yeah, I wasn't given a drain tube.

I had some 'oozing' of blood from the stitches that continued until a day after the operation, hopefully this was normal, either way it has subsided now. The only nut support I was given was 2 pads to place underneath with my two pairs of briefs over. I have noticed that the swelling is almost as large as the hydrocele originally was but I understand this is not unusual and should decrease substantially over the next few weeks (lets hope). I was hoping to go back to uni this week and the nurse only gave me 2 days for my medical certificate! But at this rate i think its better if I were to continue to take it easy.

question for everyone! it' s been 6 months since my surgery and my ball, though smaller, didn't go back exactly to normal. i wanted to ask you all whether you all were indicated to ice your testicles after surgery. i did for like 1 or 2 months and stopped. I saw another urologist today and he asked a sonography to check my testicle because he thinks its a little hard. anyone experienced the same?
